As a first time mushroom cultivator, I created BRF cakes. As many of you more experienced growers know, brown rice flour has minimal nutritive value to grow large, potent mushrooms. But what could I do? I already cased 5 out of 6 of my jars, with very weak potency results. I only had one left.

Then I stumbled on a post by Magesh. In it he showed how to multiply your colonized jars with fresh sterilized substrates. Hmmm.

So I created a mixture of wbs, brf, and verm. Sterilized, then separated into four separate big ziploc bags. Into each bag I put in 1/4 of a half-pint jar of colonized myc from my original last brf/verm jar. Then I put in some tiny pin holes near the top and put them in a sterilized tupperware and then into a big clean shoebox. Then I put that shoebox in a room with constant mid 80s temps.

That was a week ago. Today I peek into the box, and what do you know but every single ziploc bag is fully colonized with beautiful white myc. Thank god no contams!!

So today I am creating my casing mix, and tomorrow I case!

Thank you Magesh for helping me multiply my myc tenfold in a week, not to mention with a more nutritive substrate.
