I have been hunting today and found a very nice Boletus Mushroom.

I guess it could be Suillus, Strobilomyces, Phlebopus or Boletellus. I would have to do some more checking to be spot on. In Australia we are still documenting new fungi all the time. It's a big job and alot of fun. Thank you for your comments of interest. :idea:

That looks like Strobilomyces dryophilus.

hmm, what tree is that its growing under magicrooms???

shroomydans probably got the the genus spot on what with the shaggy/ scaly cap.

the key I was using pointed to suillus  :shrug:

It looked to be growing from a Stringy Bark, but then i found it on a rotting log very close to the first. I cut a section to see the flesh. The flesh was white and thick turning blue instantly when cut.

Here is another photo from today.


I think Hermes br is right "Boletellus ananas" Habitat: rotting logs!

Boletellus ananas it is.

Strobilomyces dryophilus bruises black not blue.

No. Boletes that bruise blue are not psychoactive. In fact, most are poisonous.

I know it wasn't an ID. But after seeing your photos and doing some more reading i found they matched "Boletellus ananas".
