Ego-bruising in the strangest places
    #4074979 - 04/19/05 10:35 PM (19 years, 1 day ago)

Played some doubles racquetball last night. (I love to work that into a post - heh! My partner (58) and I (49) were trailing 6-13 against a 28 and a 30 year old. We came back to win 15-13 and the boys were R-E-A-L-L-Y hot under the collar. The next game, we lost 15-13 in a close match, but near the end, David (28) who was all fired up, mishit a full-power shot that slapped me hard in the bicep about 125 mph. For some reason there was no bruise nor even a red mark. (It was a fluke. No, I am not that tough - heh!)

After the game I was trying to let him know in my own initimitable Swami-style humor that there were no hard feelings, so I said something like, "David, you are going to have to lean into your shots a little bit me more to get some snap. See? Your power blast didn't even redden my skin."

David looked at my arm in disbelief, got all red-faced, then grumbled threateningly, "Next time, we shall SEE what happens!"

Stay light is the moral. Now back to your regularly-scheduled posting activities.

It is always customery when someone is training for a fight, about 3 weeks before the bout you should really go hard and beat the shit out of them in sparring. This usually brings them down intitially and then fires them up after a day or two. They can usually hold this fire for the rest of the 3 weeks, where then the sparring gets less intense and their confidence level builds back to the point of hopefully, "peaking".

A little ego-bruising is exactly what some people need.

The same theory was worked into boot camp ego breakdown that is accompanied by propulsion of your self esteem. A real boxer doesn't know his real self worth until put through the ringer. Although boxing kinda plays upon self destruction the ego inspiring dimension of it truly makes it a beneficial sport. Thus the quote what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. That applies in life so much. Even through underlying issues it still seems to reign supreme for those with ability to grasp it.

the numbers lead in and depersonalize it to an art of abstraction.
the part about reddening your skin invitates something more personal.

the beast is still hungry
the wench is still alluring

So do most things to people who think they're right.

Go Ego.

Hopefully MMA in the future.

I watched some Ultimate Fighting the other day. I noticed no fancy martial arts moves. Unless it goes to the ground, it looks like barroom brawling only the fighters are sober and well-conditioned.

Fancy martial art moves mean nothing if you can't apply them. It's about efficiency of movement and what works. If you watch MMA enough you will notice 90% of the fights end up on the ground, where the one more skilled in jiu jitsu is usually the victor.

Ego-bruising in the strangest places

That's what happens when you stop wearing underwear.  :whoa:

Republican Values:

1) You can't get married to your spouse who is the same sex as you.
2) You can't have an abortion no matter how much you don't want a child.
3) You can't have a certain plant in your possession or you'll get locked up with a rapist and a murderer.

4) We need a smaller, less-intrusive government.

Good observation. Probably why it seems easier to "bruise a woman's ego" and why they seem "more sensitive". There is no knowing from woman to woman where her "sensitive spots" are housed making it harder to avoid doing that if that's what you choose to do and easier to hit by "accident".

If someone wants to bruise anothers guy ego, they go straight for their masculinity. Going for a woman's ego isn't as easy. You can attempt going for her femininity and she may reply, "You're damn right I where the pants in the family buster!"

If it's not so easily found housed in her femininity, where is it?????????????????????????????????

It could be anywhere. I think it even moves around and shifts positions on you from day to day just to mess with ya.

I'm glad you took my joke lightly. It would have been very fitting if there was actual ego-bruising in this thread

I was just seeing how far the male/female bashing is accepted with people before they blow off the handle. It seems stylish to make fun of males these days, but unacceptable to do the same with women. You are right about going for a males masculinity, but the same doesn't apply to females, is it because feminity is somehow seen as a burden for women? If so, thats a shame.
