two questions about this bush...
1: has anyone tripped off the unripe berries...or is this just a myth...? if this is true, any info on what is in them that makes you trip would be greatly appreciated..
2: how hard is it to grow/cultivate?

Ancient China was once referred to as the Land of mulberry and hemp. The rich peoples wore clothes made of silk, woven form the silkworms which inhabit the mulberry bushes.
The peasants therefore wore clothes made of hemp. Thus the epithet, land of mulberry and hemp. This was more true along the eastern eregions of Asia near China and into China's eastern borders into the interior.
I compiles some of this information for Mark merlin's and Rob Clarks updated edition of Merlins man and marijuana book published as Merlin's masters for the geograpghy dept. of the university of Hawaii in 1970.

i think mulberries are poisonous, because one time when i was young i made my little sister eat some of them, and she did and said they were good, so i at alike a dozen as well, as soon as my mom found out and called the hospital, we had to induce vomiting, but that is about all that i know

Mulberries? Toxic?! My grandfather has three of these trees growing in the backyard...his neighbors come to collect them for him and make mulberry pie, cake, etc.
I've never heard of them being poisonous. We've eaten a few (my wife and I) with no problems...sweet and taste okay.

somewhere in here is a post of a shroomerite who has tripped off from these. I believe they cause nausea (diahrea), and an Earth tilting sensation.
If you look around enough you should be able to find some growing, I think they would be a perfect candidate for some wine.
