The state of insanity.
    #4082232 - 04/21/05 07:18 PM (12 years, 5 months ago)

So I've been through psychosis, only to leave me sometimes in a state of insanity. Where the realm just doesn't fit right and my brain tries so hard to get rid of it. I realize that it is only fiction in my mind, but sometimes i feel like i broke through to a new realm, or learned something i previously didn't know. The state of insanity is like a crashing where you don't know if something is real or not but you try so hard to think differently. Not only am i on anti-psychotics i'm now also on a mood stabilizer, for my moods have become twitchy in the past.
Sometimes it's hard letting go of these insane things that appear. Sometimes it's not. When i do get into a state of paranoia it's the worst.

It's good to sometimes be comfortably numb.

Anyone else ever reach a state of insanity?

Peace,
Droz

My brother is a paranoid schizophrenic. Some of his past behavior has truly freaked me out beyond my ability to comprehend. He learned to take care of himself finally. He just finished up a degree in sociology. His experiences with psychosis inspired him to drop the disability he was drawing and go to college.

I've been trying for years... it's much harder then it looks.

I'll send you guys all postcards, and bring back souvenirs when I finally go insane.

Wouldn't insanity be a county if anything?

I have always been in awe of the term "insanity" as if some people somewhere (psychiatrists) got together and said "we are all the pinnacle of sanity, our reality shall be the basis to measure everyone elses reality". I find it more "insane" behaviour to label someone as insane, because they obviously havent attempted to ever question their reality. Here your crazy, take these drugs so you can be more like me!

Yah the term insanity isnt really used anymore to actually pin point a problem. You are either pretending, or you have a real condition, that is something a little more specific than "insane" :P

Well said. Not only is "insanity" a myth, so is "sanity"! Reminds me of Celia Green's take on it.

I've been goin through a "psychosis" for about 2 years now, along with depression, anxiety, and paranoia. Tried a few types of anti-depressent(even in combinations),they didn help, xanax worked great for my anxiety, but I just abused them, and I was on the highest doese of some anti-psychotic and it didn't change a thing either.....
.I was thinkin about gettin my brain scanned too see if there any visable probelms in there........

if those pesky feeling of unreality are bothering you, consider poring over some of the books written by canadian psychiatrist abram hoffer... your library (& maybe even your healthfood store) will either have them on hand or will be able to order some for you...
not eveyone will agree with his suggestions, but anecdotal evidence from some of his patients is astounding...
--- i know, anecdotes don't "prove" anything, but... well: the APA "proof" that dr hoffer's methods (esp. the vitamin B3 dosing) were ineffectual, was a simple statement by some doc that it just couldn't work... this is "scientific" ?

~
anyways, some sorta "fringy" views on psychiatry & insanity could be found by reading thomas szasz, or r d laing, or wilhelm reich --- or even gregory bateson or alan watts, eh?
(or for sure some of those crazy rantings that can be found in that scientology magazine - dunno if they still publish it, but some of their stuff was inspired, heh...)

 I know how to go out-sane, going insane is the issue.

I cant help but say this a third time, but look at the psych drugs you are taking, and ask yourself if you would be taking them if someone came up to you and said "here, take these drugs so you can be more like me"......

Seriously people, drugs arent here to solve lifes problems, they only lower your consciousness to the point of apathy or ignoring the problem. Get off the psych drugs, because you wont ever find enlightenment from a pill with Pfizer written on it.

you forgot to use quick reply, unless you're implying that I'm heavily medicated (I've tried for years, but the doctors think I'm fuckin' with them).

Ya man your right. I haven't been using psychadelics lately, but over the past 6 months lots of ecstacy and booze. I've told myself I was stopping all of it but kept giving in, I made it to a month once then I was like a 40oz won't hurt, then I just slipped back into drinking more.

But I've decided im going to stop being a bitch and quit using chemicals to escape from my probelms, because if I keep that up I wont ever get to where I wan't to be.....I'm going to put more effort into staying strong this time and work harder at pushing through all the bullshit.

I've started trying alternate medicnes(homepathic) like detoxifying, and a few others that help for the certain ways I'm feeling, depressed, anxiety, and paranoia. And I don't give a shit if people think homepathy is bs and just placebo, because so what if it helps it helps! And when I first took the medicines I could feel them doing somethign inside, I felt energy and different sensations happening in parts of my body. Like when I took the detoxifying one tonite I felt a line of energy working its way down the center of my body. I'm very open to this alternate medicine, because all of our standard ones didn't do fuck all for me!!

If I keeping pushin on and staying positive I know I can get better.

my most recent experience with high doses of mushie, my friend was on the brink of insanity. I along with the other 2 people(one being a girl trippin for the first time) noticed he was having a bad time (for about an hour) so we all started getting bugged out.. he was in other room laying down but i knew he was having a complete mind fuck.at the time i was laying down on his couch, thinking that hes going to do something stupid( like cut himself with a knife) so i was peaking and getting visuals of everything red, as if it were a murder scene, in the mean time I'm hearing intense auditory hallucinations of violins or something(almost like a horror flick). It was fuckin crazy but I kept cool the whole time and i talked him out of his mind trip and we all ended up having a fun time, dosing even more!
