    #4082210 - 04/21/05 07:15 PM (11 years, 7 months ago)

HI, this site is very large and is a great resource for growing but hard to find everything I need. What I would like to know, is what kind of mushroom is the best to grow. I am from Canada and used to get mushrooms from Bristish Columbia. I can't find in here which mushrooms those are. I knwo they turn blue when dried. I know with those that an 1/8 will give you a good trip. BUt theres so many kind of mushrooms. Can someone give me some adivce

Nathan

Hi.

P. Cubensis is the easiest and most commonly discussed mushroom in this forum, and that's what you want to grow. Start from the beginning:

From what I've heard B+ is the easiest to grow... and if your shrooms are any good an 1/8 should give you more than a good trip..

And blue-ing would be caused by bruising, like when you leave a half-eaten apple out... or when you drop a banana or something and it turns brown.

I don't think they're suggesting what you're thinking of. I believe what you're describing are panaeolus cyanescens. They are thin white mushrooms, but often start to blue even as they grow. They're a bit more difficult to grow, but do a little research and you'll do fine.

Hope this helps

And there is where God lives, where the dead live, the spirits and the saints, a world where everything has already happened and everything is known. That world talks. It has a language of its own. I report what it says. The sacred mushroom takes me by the hand and brings me to the world where everything is known. It is they, the sacred mushrooms, that speak in a way I can understand. I ask them and they answer me. When I return from the trip that I have taken with them, I tell what they have told me and what they have shown me."

He described "blue when dried", not blue while grown. Recommending pan cyans is just confusing the topic even more.

Are these them?

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

Hey, thanks for all the relies. I honestly can't say which ones they are. I jsut used to buy them dried, but they were Blueish and from B.C if that helps. Someone recommened B + , Can I have some info on those. ALso I've never grown, going the try soon hopefully when I get the equipment.

they were probably indoor grown cubensis if an 1/8th was involved.

--

there is a slight chance you got some Psilocybe stuntzii "blue ringers"...but I highly doubt it.

Psilocybe cyanescens are out of the question...since an 1/8th would be too much for one person.

Psilocybe semilanceata "liberty caps" are out of the question too...plus most people keep them for themself.

Panaeolus subbalteatus "Pan Subs"...no way.

Psilocybe baeocystis "Baeo"...no way.

Panaeolus cyanescens...that someone mentioned...and that is completely out of the question...I have never seen any sold on the street in the PNW.

---

There are basically 2 different species sold on the streets in the PNW and B.C.

Psilocybe cyanescens and Psilocybe cubensis.

and like I said...I highly doubt you got ahold of some Cyans...so its some strain of Cubensis.

---

Almost all the species of active mushrooms are more potent than the Cubensis.

But Cubensis is the easiest to grow...especially indoors.

So pick a strain of Cubensis to grow...and sit down and do some reading...and learn how to grow them.

Good place to start is with the PF - tek....click here for it!~

good luck!~

Have you ever taken pan cyans? He says an 1/8 is a "nice trip"....an 1/8 of Pans wouldnt be a "nice trip" so he's obviously not describing them. I think what you are suggesting is not what the poster is thinking of and everyone else is correct. All actives (and some others) blue. They can blue when you grow them, when you pick them, or dry them. Cubensis are the ones that are always grown because they're the easiest...start there.
