boar repellent?

Well me and my homie just planted another at 4:22, just after starting up our fatty joints at 4:19 and holding in a huge rip till 4:20 passed. And shortly after enjoying another bowl out of his sherlock, we ended up pretty blazed (we had been blazed all day anyways). The first way we came up when we first found the place is a bitch to travel up or down, so we went the more comfortable way which is a boar trail. Well about 20 feet down the winding manzanita bush path, we end up about 15 feet from a treeline where we cant barely see shit in the dark of it. We stop to rest and I told my friend to shut his pie hole a minute so I could listen and examine this black mass I was seeing at the end of the path. After about 10 seconds my dumbass friend goes, "hey dude" ... BAM that black mass whips around and grunts and we fuckin flipped out and i pulled out my knife that I carry with me (it also just happends to be about 14 inches long and printed on the side of the blade says "The Pig Sticker" all nice and stuff. perfect for killing a large animal). He got the smart idea to pick up this huge rock and roll it down the path at it to scare it off... And actualy it I think just pissed it off, cause it started heading at us, but not as fast as it could have, so we booked it on up the trail and waited at the top with huge rocks and our stashed maschette, and my huge knife. We ended up going down the "cliff of bushes" and almost fell and went squish like on 50 different ocassions.... Does anyone know of any boar repellant? I was thinking of purchasing a shotgun at k-mart or something for not too much, and carrying it up there with me, but if theres pellets or something ide be more stoked on that. I thought I was gonna die today, that pig must have easily weighed 250-300 lbs. Careful out there in the wild outdoors everyone! It's amazing what some people have to do to get some darn good smoke!

Lol wild pigs are scared shitless of humans. Just leave them and their offspring alone and they won't bother you
A boar will only attack a human if he feels threatened and has no other way out. The pig that attacked you guys prolly had piglets around and felt threatened by the rock your mate threw at him.
At least that's the case with boars around my parts. But than again here they are used to humans hunting them down, killing them and sticking their meat into a BBQ.
They may however screw with your plants, but no shotgun will keep them from doing that b/c you prolly have better things to do than sit 24/7 near your plants w/ a shotgun...

well here's the deal with boars..... they aren't scared of anything... they're too stupid to be afraid...... that's snakes that are afraid of people.
and if you see a boar..... DON"T MOVE!!!! DON'T TALK!!!
they can only see like a few feet and their eye's don't even see that well up close.
They react to movement and sound.... like many animals. and they charge in the according direction.
Don't move cause Boars charge anything that moves, kinda like shoot first ask questions later, kinda like cops...ahhemmm... i mean pigs.
and they can run way way way faster than you. and their little tusks can rip your leg practically off. so if they have a line on you, and you try to run..... your screwed.
and your knife says pig sticker... cause mountain men/ bad asses hunt Boar with a pack of dogs and a big fuckin knife.
start looking for the signs of their rooting around in the dirt, looks like roughed up areas of soil, plus they have the only little hooves in the forest, really easy to see when you start looking. if you notice lots of this stuff in certain areas, maybe move else where.?
and i would say that maybe some ' bear repellent ' would work, basically a fire extinguisher full of mace, sprays a long distance.
or learn to climb trees really well.
or crossbows are cheaper than guns and easier to get. fun too. could use some 'thumper'( non-lethal ) tips on the arrows.
dig a bunch of punji / pig (sp?) pits and go collect your BBQ. jk! actually that stuff tastes really bad. serious.

Is this what you call a boar?
The boars in my country (Sus Scrofa) are scared shitless of humans. If you want to go boar hunting around my parts you can't say a single word or even take a piss while your in the field, or they'll hear/smell you and will not return to that place for a few days.
They aren't stupid at all. They are actually amongst the most intelligent mammals of the local fauna.
The taste is divine, much better than any domestic pig would ever long to taste. It is actually considered a delicacy and in the few places where you can buy actual wild boar meat it is VERY expensive..
Only attacks that ever happen here is when they are surrounded by dogs or hunters. And only if it is a lone old male, or a female with piglets. When they do attack it can be fatal though. Their fangs are just at the right height to cut that one major artery in your legs (which i don't remember the name of right now).
They have excellent hearing and smell, and hide extremely well. It's nearly impossible to even see them, let alone having one attack you.
We're probably talking about different boar species...
EDIT: spelling

well in my country there are boars from other countries that have been brought here and have now become a problem, and they have problems with their population control.
therefore they are hunted, to maintain their current population, and to keep them from damaging the environment any more than they already have. I'm not sure if the ones that are hunted for pop. control are eaten or not?
sometimes the meat from these type of hunts is donated to homeless kitchens, deer too. i thought this was the smartest thing i had heard in a while, feed the homeless practically.
and some people, like my old neighbor hunted Boar and Bear and Dear and probably anything else that moved, to feed his family, he was poor and needed to hunt to survive. he would obviously be dead if he hadn't hunted, but i tell you this he used every part of the animals he harvested and nothing went to waste. Indian style.
and our boars look to be about twice as big as your hogs, and they have visible tusks.
and by stupid i guess i would change that to crazy/ unpredictable/ nuts. taste really " gamy " and is usually greasy and lacking a palatable texture. i have it several times, and I'll probably keep trying it until i get some that's good.
I'm sure that it's good some where wild but not here, and i know that boar is getting more popular as a wild meat, I'd say it's farm raised "wild" boar.
also they aren't scared they are aggressive. of course most animals that are aggressive are usually frightened or reacting in a self defense manner, maybe this is all semantics.
and as far as i know boars have terrible sight, good nose but can't see for shit. this is part of why they are so likely to charge anything that moves or make sound, defense mechanism, but seems aggressive if you are being rushed.
and the fact that you can't see them is part of the problem. you walk right up on them, boom! crazy pig! attacking crazy pig!!
they are very dangerous, and it is wise to know the signs of their runs so to avoid them.
and your scenario for a pig attack, is exactly how you hunt pigs, dogs, circle, corner pig...... not really very sporting/ fair, but that's how the old timer did it.
I'm sure plenty of people have been stuck hunting, but so have just dummies out in the wild.

i'd call that a piglet. this is what roams the forest in the u.s.
they can severely maul, or even kill, a full grown man.

"a good repellent is defecating in your pants...... " LOL
The boars here are tannish but fuckin huge, this one i saw was 250-300lbs and had huge fuckin tusks and it charged at us really fast. Theres no tree's in this area to climb, our ganja spot is in the middle of a boar area consisting of a bunch of manzanita bushes. But the spot holds conditions and lighting for the plants, and it looks like its going to do well. I am going to set up chicken wire next time, and continue to spread urine around the area. I heard an idea of using a slingshot to scare one off. This whole terrain is on a steeply slanted hill, except the flat top where the plants are. If any were to attack us on the slop heading up, I think a slingshot and some maneuverability skills could definate have good odds against one of these attacking. I've always wanted to try pushing a 300lb animal over a cliff anyways....
"the fucking boar was there first. and you want to kill it? " Only if it attacked. The shotgun would be for safety reasons.

where are wild boars a problem?? well, my only problem was deer and a taught and sturdy (can't emphasize STURDY enough) chicken wire fence did a good job keeping them out...on the other hand a 200-300 boar is quit bigger than a dear...

this one is german
heres an american boar
a razorback
these ones are dead. but they arent often photographed near enough people for you to get an idea of comparitive size. but if you wanna see a domestic boar, go to a pig farm and ask to see the boar with the biggest balls. you see a big hairy animal much like the above photos. but with far less muscle and aggressiveness
