A starman read my palm once...
    #4076275 - 04/20/05 11:06 AM (11 years, 8 months ago)

Once I was at a house party in richardson.

This guy was going around reading palms, so I offered him mine.

He reached for my right hand, but I I had a question about my left hand, so I asked him:

"What does the broken lifeline on my left hand mean?"

He said: "It means that you will live a life that is way different from those in your family who came before you."

Then he looked at my right hand, and an expression of shock came over his face.

"You have more optimism than anyone I have ever met," he said.

this immeadiately piqued my interest, since most people who know me call me a pessimist, because they are too bigoted to realize that I am simply an optimist who gets disappointed a lot.

Then he went on to say:  "Your family wishes you were more with them.  And your friends...  well they wish you were more with them too.  But you were put here on this earth to do your own thing, and that's good."

Of course I already knew this, but it was the first time anyone had ever told me that my attitude was justified, and I took great comfort in it.

I asked the man if I would get everything I wanted and he grimaced for a minute.  Then he said, "Yeah, but its gonna be a difficult journey."

Well, you might or might not believe in palm reading, but I will tell you this:  The man also gave a reading to a good friend of mine at that party.  He took one look at my friend's hand and said:  "You are never going to get anywhere in life because everything is going to be that much harder for you."  That was five years ago, and as of right now that kid lives on the street and seems to have no ambition.

Now, the thing that REALLY convinced me was when this guy showed me HIS hand.

It looked like nothing I had ever seen before.  The lines on his hand looked like a spiderweb.  All the lines seemed to converge in the center, radiating outwards in a star pattern.  Thats why I called him the starman.  This guy's hand did not look human.

Well, later that same night I noticed that the starman was drawing something.  When I leaned over to look at it, I was surprised to see it was the lines on my hand!  I guess he must have figured it was important enough to write down.

Later, an aqquaintance of mine took the drawing the starman made and stylized it, adding colors and whatnot.  He put it on a big canvas, and called the painting 'The Hand of God'.  This kind of freaked me out.  I've never considered myself a God: I am merely a traveller of roads and a teller of stories.  But hey, if people wanna send me their money, thats cool.  I'll take it.

That reading was exceptionally vague, but then they ALL are. It is basically a blank canvas upon which you paint your own meaning then attribute the accuracy to the reader.

a palm reader dropped by a freind's place one summer when we we all on the front lawn helping in the garden (helping dring his wine I think mostly).
and the palm reader looked at my hands and exclaimed:
"how can you possibly deal with so much hardship! how can you even handle it?"
my reply was "do I have a choice? I have to manage".
(heads nodded)

after me and a few others he sashayed over to my wife (she is hot-gorgeous, so people tend to approach her after they build some confidence), and when he looked at her hand he said:
"you are argumentative"
to which she responded in a beat:
"no I am not!", indignantly,
everyone who knew her burst out laughing, they also knew what I was dealing with at the time (re business crash, lack of recognition, deaths, family and friends with hardships, huge bills...)
it all seems pretty smooth now looking back (still not too easy but that is not the palmreader's fault).

whether the information was in our palms or not - I don't know, it may have just been obvious from our faces.

Consistently annoying.

Is it your mission in life to preach your outlook because YOU believe it to be the most logical?

I think its actually an attention disorder.
He uses attention of any kind to keep his avatar constantly in the public eye.
By doing this he can build an ego for his virtual alias.

I could say the same thing to you. Now off you go...

Anyway, starman was a beautiful story. Liked it. Don't give a hoot if its true or not. I have that ability. More people should do what I do. Thank you.

Did you believe the reading to be precise and only applicable to DoctorJ?

no, actually the reason this guy started reading palms was so he could figure out his own.  Or so he told me.  Like I said, the lines on his palm weren't even remotely normal.

but no, I never got the impression that he was trying to take me home with him or anything.  we just had a little hello and goodbye with a friendly chat in between.

ummmm...  I don't really have a great camera with me right now...

but I can describe it to you...

my lifeline is actually two lines that converge, creating the shape of a 'Y'.  I have interpreted this to mean that I will transcend duality and unify the opposing opposites within this lifetime.

surrounding the Y there is a golden mean rectangle.  It took me awhile to recognize this, but that's what it is!!!

also, there is an hourglass on my hand.  I think this has something to do with light cones and time- there was a really good diagram of this in the book 'Brief History of Time' by Hawkings.

I am sure my palm was read first so they guy could get around the yard eventually to try talking to my wife.
which puts the pick up motivation in place somewhat, nahh.. that is too paranoidly jealous, hmm.

No.

The reading may have been precise for palmistry but I believe that it is likely to be just cold reading.
