Recycling the mycelium
    #4075056 - 04/20/05 12:54 AM (11 years, 7 months ago)

Hi, my friend asked me a simple question, and I wasn't really able to provide an answer, so I'll ask you crazy mycophiles out there. Let's say you've just harvested your last flush. Can the mycelium then be broken up and placed in fresh substrate to re-incubate and re-colonize it? I believe I've heard that some people do this outdoors. If this is the case, is there any reason why it cannot be done indoors?

Thanks

If I remember correctly there what a thread a while ago about this.  I think the general concensus was a negative, with contams being the main issue.  I could be totally wrong though... GL bro :stoned:

When I nock my jars of PC I usually just put a few kernals from a colonized jar and let it go. Haven't had any problems so far but I don't know if it's a good or bad idea. It's easier then making a syringe.

No reason at all. Before using whole grains, I used to spawn straw and shit with crumbled PF cakes that had given their last good flush. Make sure the cake is visibly contam free and dunk it before crumbling it.

Crap I just saw a tek here not too long ago. it involves taking a fully colonized cake and 2-3 other sterile uncolonized cakes putting them in a ziplock bag and mash it up. anyone know where that tek is??

i usually have problems with cantams trying to case or spawn from spent cakes(about 4-5 flushes). so, i usually just throw them in the yard outside.
