90's sci fi shows that jsut disapeared
    #4070343 - 04/18/05 08:54 PM (18 years, 11 months ago)

what are some of your favourite sci fi type of shows that aired at one point in the 1990's that are now gone?

my big ones were outer limits and sliders. loved them.

also enjoyed 7 days.

to me the x-files died after season 4.

mystery science theatre is the greatest show ever made. i remember chilin my my dorm lobby saturday nights after coming home from a party... watchin it.. it came on pretty later.. 1 or 2am

sliders was definately cool... especially the "lottery" episode

i'd say the comedy/sci-fi/sitcom.. SMALL WONDER but that was more 80's

don't forget RED DWARF

Sliders, that was a pretty good show. Mmm that Kari Wuhrer!

There was that one series after X-Files, created by the same guy. Millenium? I never watched it... it didn't go for too long did it?

I liked Earth2 a lot. That was one of the most original shows I've ever seen.

The X-files started out good but went downhill later on. You could tell Chris Carter didn't plan the mytharc from the beginning, and was just putting things together as he went along. It would have been better if he planned that story out from the beginning so that it didn't turn into the jumbled mess it was in the last couple seasons.

Millenium was a real sweet show, so was Sliders.

Sliders is on Sci-Fi once in awhile late night/early morning, isn't it?

ohh man I miss that show, that was supreme scifi! There are some pretty massive trading zones online to trade cassettes. I'ma have to bust the old VHSs out & see if I can score some new ones sometime. def. worth checking out.

(to those who don't know, MST3K was a scifi satire show where mike & two robots were trapped in space & watched movies. the whole premise was rediculous, but the show consisted mostly of really cheesy movies that they cracked jokes at the whole time.)

 sounds pretty funny.  i will be keeping an eye out for it.  perhaps even buy it on line.

millenium was awsome and the actor was good.  i did find that the visions were a little too somthing.  not sure what but it made it a little lame.  still great show though.

ya x-files totally took a dive.  im still bitter that fox was being such a dink and made the show move from vancouver south.  i agree teh story seemed unplanned.  im not too sure he thought the show would take off like it did.  still great though.

i was totally wraped up in that, i watch teh show religiously for the first 5.  now i dont really care for it (the newer ones).  we rented out the basement of mulders stunt man.  i eventually took karate at his dojo and got to practice lots at home.  damn those were good times.  im told Mr. david is kind of a prick

i though sliders went down hill as well.  those new actors rubed me the wrong way.  original shows are always better i find.  once they change people it all goes to poop.  unless its a cartoon.

Ever notice how so many sci-fi shows start out good, but then get really crappy after the first season or two?

It happened to Seaquest, Sliders, Earth: Final Conflict, Andromeda...

I wonder why that happens. Maybe because they take control away from the original creator. Certainly that was the case with Gene Roddenberry's shows. :P

I think Stargate has only gotten better, i wish i watched it more often. Some of the story lines on it are just so amazing. Although i do think they should start following a more linear storyline concentrating on those traditional alien looking beings and the other universes.

I dont think the Atlantis version is good although i haven't watched many episodes so i really shouldn't say.

'LOST' has really captured my attention this year. Probably the first TV series in 10 years to do so. It'll be interesting to see how they wrap up the season and if they can keep it going next year. I'm afraid it'll be hard to answer enough questions to satisfy the fans and still leave enough mystery to keep us coming back. I'm hoping they've got some good story lines figured out. Otherwise it will be another of these shows we talk about in 10 years saying "That was really cool but it sucked after the first year".
