Ode to Julie
    #4072783 - 04/19/05 03:16 PM (11 years, 7 months ago)

We drift our way through this world not knowing why we take
The path we choose, the things we do, or the decisions that we make
We float along some phantasmic trail that doesn't quite exist
Striving hard to make sense of this chaotic myst

Reaching out to others as they scurry on their way
Is the only hint of happiness throughout this dreary fray
The days stretch long as time flies by - it's all so dichotometric
Friendships bide as worlds collide creating something hectic
Our spirits sink continuously with each new failing test
Weakening us ever more as we strive to be our best

As time passes on we find ourselves stretching rather thin
Feeling as if there's no way out - no hope, no goal, no win
These ghostly forms of happiness simply aren't enough
To keep the pressures of this world from seeming quite so tough

And so we find ourselves again in this ever-present pain
Trying hard to ignore the thoughts within our brain
Going out to fraternize hoping it will cure
Whatever illness we've acquired that's making us so impure

But after many hours spent reaching out to others
We begin to feel distant - strangers amongst our brothers
As if we aren't capable of the most simplistic things
Stumbling through all the bullshit that this world brings
Knowing all too well we'll never have a rest
For in our minds it seems as if every thing's a test

And so we feel as if there's nothing left to do
But take that final leap of faith as we say adu
One last time to say goodbye - one last note to write
One more final duty and that's turning off the light

Never knowing who we've touched or how they've been affected
Cause as they were all loving us, we only felt rejected
Passing off their kindness as obligatory social grace
And returning the same favor with a smile 'pon our face
Never giving anyone a chance to see our pain
Yet always wondering why things always stay the same

Perhaps because it's known their reactions would be reflex
"I shall save this pathetic sap with my mighty pecs!"
But would they come to the rescue if we hadn't called out to em?
Apparently not, cause that wasn't the case - we all just passed right through em

Which is why we're at a place we never wanted to be
Staring loneliness in the face for all eternity
While others sit around asking the eternal question 'why'
There's nothing left for us to do but sit around and cry

Cause you'll never know your contributions til it's much to late
To make amends with all your friends - to let go of the hate
And so you sit in darkness regretting that final leap
While those who truly loved you continue loosing sleep

There is no happy ending for those that take this path
Only loneliness, frustration, fatiguefulness, and wrath
And not just for those who walk it - but also those around
Bitterness grows with all these woes - salvation can't be found
There is no hope, there is no goal, nor anything to win
Only vague labels we give each other depicting foe or friend

But labels change as people grow, and soon that matters not
Cause all are foe who could be friend...yet often times are not
And so we float on ever more wondering what to do
Hoping that we might avoid having to say adu

if you took the time to read this could you please just make some sort of response...it doesn't have to be a comment or whatever, a simple emoticon or something would do

I don't need feedback or anything, I just want to know that it's been seen

You should break it down into stanzas, then it would be a lot more readable and you'll get more responses.

Yeah, I liked it. This part flows well:

The days stretch long as time flies by - it's all so dichotometric
Friendships bide as worlds collide creating something hectic

that's probably about the only part too

but it wasn't meant to be a good poem or anything, just a release of what I was feeling...so it don't matter to me if the flow is all fucked

I didn't mean the rest of it was fucked... just saying I liked that part in particular... it jumped out at me.

Its pretty good.....but poems with end-rhymes on every line and no meter whatsoever make me vomit. No offense, just my personal opinion of that form. I did like some of your word usage, though.

--------------------
"And we, inhabitants of the great coral of the Cosmos, believe the atom (which still we cannot see) to be full matter, whereas, it too, like everything else, is but an embroidery of voids in the Void, and we give the name of being, dense and even eternal, to that dance of inconsistencies, that infinite extension that is identified with absolute Nothingness and that spins from its own non-being the illusion of everything."
