Russia
    #4072268 - 04/19/05 01:07 PM (11 years, 7 months ago)

It seems of late that Russians are eager to change the form of government from the current Democracy. Seems as if most Russian citizens aren't satisfied with Democratic Russia. A Russian friend's opinion is that the Russian people are more for isolation of their Russian race than integration with other races, and they think Democracy opens the gates for integration. I think a movement ahead for a change of government is feasible. I think that the Russian government will not return to a form of Communism, but rather to a form of National Socialism ironically similar to that of the Third Reich.

A National Socialism unification similar to the Third Reich would make Russia a Super Power, greater than its previous greatness as an nation, for Russia already has a great military and a great amount of bombs of all sorts, so minimal need would be applied to bolster the military. Instead all will be for the infastructure of Russia, such as culture, higher standard of living for the current lowest class, ideoligy, architecture etc. An example for all other governments, including the government of the United States of America to rethink their treatment and influence upon their nation.

Unfortunately I have not done actual research on this topic, for it is just a recent thought, but I do care for input of opinions nonetheless.

Russia used to be a gigantic Superpower compared to the united states when they were a communist country. The problem Russia see's now is a growing debt and the reliance on aid from other countries and the world bank.

So far in a effort to bolster Russia's Economy they have started cutting deals by selling military technology to other countries creating a economic powerhouse by trading with China and free trade with other countries. If Russia was National Socialists they could become gigantic powerhouse if there to regain all their territories like the Ukraine,Georgia,Kazakhstan and former provinces.

Russia still yearns for the days when they were just as powerful as the united states, but in order for them to do that they would, Like the united states have to become an imperialist force and protect their interests abroad. So far the 90's have been unforgiving in Russia. The entire country is in debt and the Russian Ruble has been slipping for a good while. Trading Military technology abroad will more than likely bolster their economy.

Rice: Trends in Russia 'Very Worrying'
Secretary of State Is in Moscow to Meet With Putin

By Glenn Kessler
Washington Post Staff Writer
Tuesday, April 19, 2005; 12:34 PM

MOSCOW, April 19 -- Russian President Vladimir Putin's efforts to amass power and control television broadcasts are "very worrying" trends that have undermined Russian democracy, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Tuesday.

Rice said she saw some bright signs, including nascent efforts to form political parties to challenge Putin when he runs for reelection in three years, and she understood that it was a "very complicated task" to run Russia. But "there is no doubt that when we talk about the trends, the trends have not been positive," she said.

Rice's comments, made to reporters as she traveled here for consultations with Putin and other officials, reflect the growing concern of U.S. officials about Russia's increasingly fragile democracy. President Bush in his inaugural address this year pledged to confront "every ruler and every nation" about internal repression, but Bush and his aides generally have publicly muted those concerns regarding Russia.

Yes, Putin seems to be going in a rather anti-democratic direction with his stifling of the press and opposition figures. However, similar actions were taken in our own nascent nation, most notably by Thomas Jefferson, who sought very actively to stifle his rivals. For the good of the nation, of course. What Russia will become is a long way from being revealed and not all signs are good. There is a great deal of provincialism there, with ethnic Russians very much believing they are superior, and huge parts are practicly stone age. I would not feel comfortable if I was tribesman from Kamchatka. The Russians have a long history of incredible brutality and they will manufacture a scapegoat if they must.

That being said, it is not by any means certain that they will devolve into fascism or national socialism. The US didn't.

I was born in Kazakhstan (former republic of USSR).
During the soviet period we had friends all over the world. Also, in my opinion the Russian people do not at all want to isolate "their Russian race". There are plenty of minorities across Russia/former union. I am a Tataric minority. Tatars and Russians have had a lot of bad blood between each other for many centuries. There are also plenty of other ethnic minorities such as the Kazakhs, Turks, Chinese, N.Koreans, Uzbeks, Mongolians, Inuit (Chukchi)...and so on and so forth.

Dude, sorry to say...but I'm going to have to call you a dumb ass for that one. There isn't even a "socialist" movement in Russia. The proletariat/former proletariat class in Russia, which consists of laborers, elderly, and low income families are still voting for the CPRF (Communist Part of the Russian Federation). Which is the original Lenin's party. Although the number of people who support the communists has dropped in the last decade, a lot of the people still choose to vote for CPRF. The party of my father, the party of my father's father.

Unity was the ulimate goal of the USSR, not superiority. While Communist Russia spread it's marxist ideas throughout half the Asian continent, it also freed many many concentration camps during the wwII, and promoted anything but racial superiority. The whole slogan of the USSR movement was "proletariats of all nations, unite!", "not zeich heil", "aryan pride" and so on. Just like most Americans, Russians take much pride in their ancestry, but not to a point to inferior others.

Russia is definetly in better Hands with Putin than it ever was with Eltsin, but it will take several more decades to recover from it's deep depression.

What is suggested, and what happens are very different things. True communism doesn't result with a dictator in power, and many of the contries actions contradicted the idealogy of their governance.

older info, but still relevant to the current situation

Oh for sure, if anything, Communism was one of the most hypocratic theories ever to be put to test. In test, communism actually did the exact opposite of what marx talked about, the few elite ruled the great nation, and the poor working class - the one that the state tried so hard to promote - starved to death and was used to form the Stalin's skeleton army.

um.... I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that one, the theory of communism was never properly employed, therefore their is no working definition of the defined theory to make an actual judgement as to whether or not it will work or not.

I agree with you though as to the nature of the form of communism (if you prefer to call it that) that was utilized was miserable; and those that controlled it, were greedy self-servient pricks.
