I doubt it.

Z, KSSS, Any of the South American strains are at the top.

The list

Cubensis spore germination on optimal substrate with optimal moisture content at ideal temperature:
FASTER

Cubensis spore germination on sub par substrate with poor moisture content and fluctuating temps:
SLOWER

No but really, there are too many variables (once again) to accurately list strain speeds. Strain vigor, isolate vigor, substrate, moisture...etc.

Some are faster than others, yes, but I could get amazing results from a certain strain, turn around and give it to someone else to try, and they'll wait a month for colonization of a 1/2 pint jar.

it would be awesome if there was a way we could compile a list.

I suppose, but it would never be accurate. About the best we could do is: "EQ is one of the fastest strains on average, with GT following right behind." <--Just using those strains as an example.

Gotta add to that, my methods are far from perfect. But I recently did EQ's and they seemed to go very fast. But where the big gain was in pinning, they pinned after only a couple of days.. it took the camb's a week to catch up. I almost didn't beleive it.

in order to make it possible you would have to have people with the strains that others are lacking and experience to keep everything at optimum parameters

there are so many factors that affect mycelial production that it can't be definitively stated that one variety outshines another if you only take variety into account...

a better question would take into account more variables, ie 'which variety colonises fastest in a PF jar environment at 75F' or 'which variety colonises fastest in rye berries in a quart jar at 80F'

you'll get different answers for every possibility

In my head...I have.

---

The fastest colonizer that I have had on pf style jars was the South American strain...8 days from a multi-spore inoculation to full colonization.

And I have done over 26 different strains of Cubensis.

the experiment would have to be done like 5 times with 5-10 1/2 pint jars of each strain in case variables were in play. then you would have to record each ones personal best and repeat. i'm suprised no one has ever done this in the past.

Because thats alot of work just to find out average colonization times. With the procedures described, I'd suspect further studies beyond colonization time records...
