burmese question
    #4071206 - 04/19/05 02:28 AM (11 years, 7 months ago)

this isn't my first grow but this is my first time using the burmese strain and compared to the 4-5 other strains i've grown these are so much smaller, they are like an inch and a half tall and the caps are already starting to open on most of them, none of my growing conditions have changed since any of my others, so is this a normal characteristic of the strain or could the spores been from a long line of clones or what?

well size depends on soooooooo many factors and believe me under right conditions,
any strain, including burma, wont be small at all:

hhmm i wander what my problem is with them, not using anything with more nutrients other than BRF is probly one of them but i've had alot of other nice flushes from other strains in the same setup, this is kind of dissapointing to me, this is the most mushrooms i've had on a casing and they are maturing at 2 inches tall tops.

you know i once had some GTs maturing at just the same size.
here take a look:

i found that in my case i let the casing layer colonise way too much and it overlayed,
but since cakes are basically overlay that cant be the cause.

maybe your fruiting environment isnt the best or you made yer cakes a bite too dry or something.
well thats all i can input :frown:

they are casings, and they where kind of dry as when they where colonizing i had 6 wide mouth pints that kind of dried out at 80-90% so i cased them, and there is no overlay on my casing i'm to lazy to tak a pic right now but here is one from 2 days ago while they are still pins

i'm not positive but that doesn't look like any of the overlay that i have seen if in fact it is, theres realy nothing i can do about it now, hopefully they will get bigger on later flushes.

the circle on there was from when i uploaded it in another post asking about the mutant that had a stem growing upside down from the top of another cap, someone suggested that i may have gotten spores from a long line of clones, which would cause the small growth and mutants.

dude if that thing shrunk away from the sides of the container THAT much,
dunk the living shit out of it by sumberging the thing for ~5 hrs.
it should pay of incredibly rewarding.
btw the mutants, dont worry, the come up here and then all the time.

it hasn't shrunk at all i don't think, i make my casings in different kinds of containers and once they are start fruiting i take them out whole and flip the container upside down and put the casing on the top, i just do that so i get side pinning as well as on top, i don't know why, i just did it one day and havn't had any problems so i've been doing it since.

One reason casings are so good over cakes, they hold in moisture better because the substrate is surrounded on all 6 sides. More sides exposed the more likly to dry out.

Another, all energy is focused onto an even pinset in one place energy is focused better.

If it were me, I'd rethink that idea, however thats just my opinion.

Sorry, I know nothing of Burmas other then seeing many logs with huge mushies and huge flushes.

Is it just me or does that look more like a flat cake tek than a casing? With a casing, you should not be able to see the sides. Hmmmm.

if you want to get technical about it then all casings are just flat cakes, i just choose to take mine out of the container i first put it in, i had a massive flush they are just small fuckers.

Has any of you guys worked with this strain?? I've tried a few different strains but Burm seems to have very slow colonization times. Anyone else experience this? Does anyone trade prints on this forum

Everyone does, PM people or visit the marketplace when youve had enough posts. I havnt worked with it but search for IAmTheWalrus, he has a number after it too, I dont remember it though...he's had many BEATUIFUL Burma grows. Check out the grow log section and the grow log archieves (in the archieve section) and you'll find numerous grow log on whatever strain you want, grown just about everyway shrooms are grown.

IAmTheWalrus has some beautiful Burma grows!~

So does JimmietheWorm.

I was one of the first to work with this strain.
John Allen gave me one of the 3 wild print that he brought back.
and I had a really nice isolate of the Burma going.
I lost my isolate when I had health problems(awhile back)...I didn't keep it right.
I have since replaced it...thanks to a friend.

Some people say its a very contam resistant strain...I don't know about that.  :smirk:

But the Burma is a beautiful strain.
