college girls
    #4070981 - 04/19/05 01:15 AM (11 years, 7 months ago)

I've been reflecting on my life lately...

I'm on track to finish college in a year with a shitty psychology BA, so I'm at a point where I can see the finish line, yet questioning if I'm in the right race.

My major isn't me ; rather this degree will not lead me to a profession of my liking.  Unless of course I was allowed to experiment with lsd and psilocybin on the elderly and addicted. :mushroom2:

What are your majors?  Know of any programs that are very interesting?
I was thinking of getting into Landscape Architecture becuase I like to work with the earth :sun: and be creative.  your help is appreciated
oh and sorry about the misleading title

Im in architecture right now. Im taking the first years of the design program which require all the fields, urban design, landscape architecture and interior design, to take. Its okay... i get pissed off at times and i will wonder if it will take me where i want to go.

Its a lot of work, a lot of work, and i mean that. You have to be on the ball, and be prepared to spend a lot of money on art supplies, and a lot of time invested with the program.

If you enjoy drawing and building models, youll be able to get through a majority of the labor intensive parts of the program. And i dont know how other schools are on there "programs" and how they like to educate their students.

At my school theres a really sweet urban horticulture program, also really sweet programs on the environment (forestry, fishery, climate change, etc).

Now is definitely time to expand your horizons!

I'm majoring in Biology right now. I've always been interested in the natural sciences, even when I was in 4th grade. I stuck with that up until highschool when my interest shifted towards computer programming. I was majoring in Computer Science up until a month ago. I decided I'd rather work outdoors or in a lab, as opposed to being stuck in front of a monitor all day.

I also figure I have a wider range of options with a BS (possibly MS) in Biology. I can be a lab technician or even a scientist if I go for a MS or PhD. The great thing is I can still fall back on a tech career because most programming jobs favor experience over a degree (and I'd have one anyway, just not a CS one).

I was a faculty slut my whole tenure.

I started in general science then business then specilization science then back to business.

I totally hated it, I guess I had the wrong expectations going in like I would actually learn something useful. Knowing what I know now about university I would of spent that money travelling and gained some real experience.

The only plus side to it is that I'll only have about $200 debt when I get done in 2 weeks.

Fits exactly with what I was going to say about being an Art Major. Although if you looking for something that will "land you a job" when you graduate... this is probably not the route for you. But you shouldn't worry about such things, do what you love, not what makes you money. You'll be much happier in life.

So is anybody here studying horticulture? I'm going back to school next fall semester and I'm interested in horticulture to either get a cert or an associates degree.

Those are all the girls that "got away".. "good bye!... good bye...."

anyways!

Shanti: Im pissed because i feel like i havent learned enough of what i thought i would going into this. I wanna learn about how architecture is infused within society, and how people use structures and design to benefit their environment, and what are the best means for achieving an environment that is not only supremely aestehtically pleasing, but has the function and efficiency, as well as the ability to adress key social needs.

No i havent looked into those schools... for financial reasons. I am where i am for many reasons. Sometimes i feel like i am forced to where i am, like sometimes i never have my own say in what goes on. BUt its come to my awareness, that i have a lot of issues that lay underneath this which complicate and distort this issue as well.
