Martha Stewart - Casing Humidity?
    #4068161 - 04/18/05 11:12 AM (13 years, 10 days ago)

AFOAF is using a martha stewart setup with a vicks cool mist and ultrasonic. The cool mist by itself constantly stays at 95% humidity so the ultrasonic hasn't been implemented yet. What is the proper RH level for casings while initiating pinning and while fruiting? AFOAF is using the 50/50+ Tek for casings.

I believe I have read 80% is right for casings. At least that's what I use and get plenty of our little friends..

Bulk cased substrates do fine around 85% RH. Plus a little indirect misting, now & then.

So you mean to tell me that the vicks cool mist is producing humidity levels that are too high for casings? Plus is the rh level the same for fruiting and pinning?

sure your hygrometer is giving you good reading, seems doubtful a cool mist would get a martha up to 95 rh

I have 3 different humidity gauges, 2 electronic and one cheap $4 one. The most accurate humidity gauge that I have is from a cigar shop, its by Diamond Crown and its called Precision Hygrometeter - state-of-the-art digital technology accuracy guaranteed. The other electric one just says HI% instead of an actual reading, I think its some value over 90 after that it reads HI%. Then the cheap guauge says about 90-95.

If its state-of-the-art, then it must be accurate! 80-85% RH is good for casings.
