Sometimes you eat the burrito, sometimes the burrito eats you
    #4067975 - 04/18/05 08:09 AM (11 years, 7 months ago)

I got a metro system in my town and i use it pretty much everywhere, mainly short trips, like 2 - 5 minute rides. 1 way ride cost $2. On average i use it 3 - 4 times a day. So basicaly, by not buying tickets, i save at least 50 bucks a week.

If the inspectors catch you without a ticket or a pass, they fine you on the spot $20.

...it happened today

I tried to get away without paying, said i had no ID no money and gave them my (fake) address but the fat arsed conductor threataned to call the cops on me to determine the validity of my address, ( i bet he was bluffing). So i gave in and paid off. Mind you i would have run away and gave him a slap but it was THE central station and there were lots of others like him around. I been stoped a few times by them in the past but i never had to reach for my wallet once.

It made me really angry after that. I remember my friend used to say all the time, its cheaper to pay the fine once in a while rather than buy tickets every time. And even tho he is right, i still felt bad about paying the fine today. Its like deep in me, there is this deep seated desire to be perfect and on top of EVERYTHING. And if im not a winner by 100% it knocks me out. I realised taht this is not the way it is and the name of the post holds a lot of truth...

Hm, so you need that cash for the coke i guess?

20$ fine seems really cheap to me, here it?s 40EUR -roughly twice
that much(Germany).

You?d give him a slap? So what if he sees you next time?
I guess then you?re for a whacking...

... you can?t beat the feeling - how true...

Riding the bus isn't a right, its a privilege that one must pay for....

I think the bus system should be the one that feels robbed and violated, since, obviously, you keep robbing them....

You're just a nigga without a bus pass.

Yeah, It's an ego problem. If you weren't so attached to your unrealistic need to be seen as perfect, you might realize that you win some and you lose some, and thats just life. Then you would be free to enjoy what was happening in each moment instead of needing to write this post because you can't let go of this.

"there is this deep seated desire to be perfect"

What does stealing and being perfect have in common? For you, apparently it means you had committed the "perfect" crime in that you hadn't been caught or at least paid the fine until today.

Be glad you didn't succomb to your anger and "slap the fat arsed conductor" or it might have been a lot worse than $ 20.

Here's a question for you. If the fine was going to jail instead of a measly $ 20 for stealing metro service, would you continue with your behavior?

Your natural state is that you're 100% "winner", but I don't like that word as it implies there's an opposition you win over.

so you feel good about cheating the system?

if everybody did the same thing, there would be no metro system. what the hell are you bitching about. i'm glad you got caught.

all it takes is for everybody to do their part, and everything works out.

you sir, have no right to bitch about anything. you are the bug in the system  just kidding. but you definitely should not be complaining about getting caught, or a shitty metro system (if you do complain about that).

it seems like so little on a small scale. but without each little bit, you don't have the whole. the whole what, i don't know. now i'm hungry.

Unfortuanetly, whether we choose to believe it that way or not, due to limitations of resources, space, money,... well all things limited , it's going to be that way.

It's Mother nature's way to kick you in the ass for self preservation. She tells you that you're a winner, and that you deserve something more then someone else, and, sometimes she's right. She's a bitch though, don't alway listen to her . (Note; I'm not asserting that the Earth has a gender, it was figuritive)

there is no limitations of resources. people just get greedy. people desire power. power comes from having an abundance of resources that others are lacking.

it's time to live and it's time to die! anarchy in the state! down with the system! burn the flag!

i mean... um. i guess this post serves no practical purpose. just that resources are not really limited, greed has simply made it seem as such. but really, there is plenty to go around.

if only more politicians ate mushrooms, maybe things would work out nicer for everybody  :rasta:

PM me when you come back to reality... their is indeed a limitation on resources, and greed is a vast part of it, but even if it weren't for greed, their simply isn't enough to go around.

Their are limitations on populations, food, water, energy (coal/oil/natural gas), in addition to limitations on thought processes. Should their be no limitations? Of course, not, but until we are saved by the creator, and everything is gravy, when we live forever, don't die, no death starvation, everyone giving hugs....

/wakes up.

Define greed...

Example:
Everyone wants a white tiger (specifice genus and all that jazz are unnecessary) as a pet. The population is nearly extinct. Regardless of greed and whole cities sharing the damn animal through communal benefit... their simply isn't enough to go around.

We can apply this to gold as well, we can apply this to oil and the functioning of society... their are limitations, regardless of your acceptance of it, greed has a major part to deal with it, but isn't complete in it's perception of why their isn't enough of everything to go around.

i don't think of white tiger as a resource.

however, there is definitely enough gold and oil to go around, if money were not involved. who the hell wants gold anyways? heh.

maybe you're right, i'm not positive to be honest.
