Best way to learn about ID'ing mushrooms
    #4066939 - 04/18/05 12:48 AM (12 years, 6 months ago)

I live in the Pacific Northwest.. a pretty good place to gather some 'interesting' mushrooms as I've learned. Many people from Seattle, Oregon.. etc have been posting some great finds!! I'd like to be one of those many. Today I visited my local bookseller and they had a few about hunting mushrooms in the PNW. I've also been to a very large bookstore in Portland called Powell's.. they had a book named something like psychadelic mushrooms in the northwest. Which sort of guide should I get?? Where are some good resourses to finding these mushrooms?? Could someone in WA or OR be able to donate some time to help this willing newB in this??

Thank you so much Shroomery.. as always!!

Sammy

if you're interested primarily in psilocybes, pick up Paul Stamets "Psilocybe Mushrooms of the World."

if you're interested in all sorts of species, the best field guide IMHO is David Arora's "Mushrooms Demystified"

both can prolly be found pretty cheap on amazon.com
