Various people have said for rye or birdseed that they just mix it up 3:1 grain to water in the jars then PC. No soaking or simmering. They act like it has great results, and it's very easy obviously. I was just wondering if this is possible for popcorn too? The only tek i read for popcorn said a 24 hour soak and 1 hour simmer were required. Could i not just mix up 3:1 ratio for that too?

From what I've read the popcorn needs to soak for the kernals to absorb water. If you use a ratio you might be ok, but then again you might use too much or too little water. With soaking you let the kernals absorb as much as they need to. Drain it and you know you've got the right ammount of water.

3:1 will be fine, there might be a corn paste at the bottom after pcing but after a few shakes the mycelium eats it up. Dont soak or simmer it, just pc for an hour 3 cups seed, 1 cups water. You might be able to go 3:1.5 but i know 3:2 is too wet

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.
