Azures, thickness of spawnlayer
    #4062790 - 04/16/05 03:26 PM (18 years, 11 months ago)

Hello guys

Soon I will have a few quarts of azure pawn ready. I was wondering how thick should the layer of colinised woodchips in the outside spawnbed ideally be?

I was thinking of:
- digging 4 inch wide 10 inch long and 5 inch deep
- on the bottom 2 inch of bigger soaked chips, leaves old brenches etc
- then 1 inch azurespawn
- and again woodchips brenches leaves and some woodsoil

Good idea?

Thanks,
MF

Loki had a thread with some amazing outdoor beds. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/2359088/page//fpart/1/vc/1
That should give you some good info to start with.

Thanks twister!

Actually it is many pictures but I cant find the measures of spawnlayer, and the layer beneath and above it.

why not go bigger, you may only get a few azures from that.

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

Better mix the spawn and the woodchips.

Yes Anno thanks, I just figured that out.

I read that sometimes spawnrates of 1:20 are used. I wanna do less, I think about 1 part spawn on 10 parts chips. Mix that.

But still I will put non-mixed chips/brenches/leaves etc under beside and above the mix.

What is minumun thickness of my "mix"?
