Favorite song with lyrics (no albums)

Alright... I know everyone loves Shpongle and all that... ok... what's everyone's favorite single song that has lyrics to listen to while tripping. Mine's either The Boxer or The Sound of Silence by the greats Simon and Garfunkle. So what about yall??

I find that the best tripping music is either without lyrics, or has a vocalist that uses their voice as an instrument and puts less focus on literal meaning of the lyrics.

So I would have to say any 311 song, but if I had to choose one, it would be "prisoner" from the Transistor album. All these other 311 songs are popping in my head that I wanna post, but "Prisoner" was the song that made me fall in love with 311...

Hmm... I'd say either A Punchup at a Wedding by Radiohead or Will You Smile Again by And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead, both from great albums btw =P

I usually listen to music without lyrics when tripping though, like Shpongle, Boards of Canada, Juno Reactor, Leftfield etc.

/edit I'm listening to Gorillaz new album "Demon Days" right now, it's actually pretty good, very laid back album

I love to hear Livin' life by the drop by stevie ray vaughn... theres no word to describe how awesome it sounds during a trip. Also any creedence clearwater revival song sound great. Bruce Springsteen, jimmy hendrix, sublime, so many good tunes.

"May the wind always be at your back, And the sun upon your face, And the winds of destiny carry you aloft, To Dance with the stars..."

This may not be the flavor of music that many of you are traditionally interested in, might even be considered a bit popilicious!.. but I'll tell you, Pure Shores by All Saints carries with it a fantastic vibe while in the altered states.  A fluke that we would have listened to it, my girlfriend at the time had just thrown together a compilation of tracks on a CD-R only hours before we ventured deep into the void, but man did that disk hit the spot.. and Pure Shores in particular, was just so uplifting and joyous - highly recommended to anyone with a light heart and a head full of magic! :mushroom2:

.. and though there are far too many to recall at the current juncture, for some more choice pic's off the top of my head that I've personally had many a moment of pure experience with, consider checking out:
  • Grateful Dead - Unbroken Chain (Live from the Mars Hotel, VERY clean recording)
  • Counting Crows - Anna Begins
  • Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon Album
  • Pink Floyd's Animals Album
  • Pink Floyd's Pulse tour Live 2-disc set
  • String Cheese Incident - Joyful Sound
  • String Cheese Incident w/ Keller Williams - Best Feeling
  • Tori Amos - Winter
  • Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees
  • Bob Dylan - Mr. Tambourine Man
  • Gordon Lightfoot - Bitter Green
  • John Denver - Rocky Mountain High
  • Niel Young - Old Man
  • Marc Cohn - True Companion
  • Tracy Chapman - Fast Car
  • The Doors - Riders on the Storm
  • Ben Harper - Burn One Down
  • Ben Harper - Excuse Me Mr.
  • Jack Johnson - Drink the Water
  • Jack Johnson - Bubble Toes

Oh and for a great little bluesy jam without lyrics, try out Stevie Ray Vaughan's Lenny

Man I could just go on and on, but for my exeunt:
  • Crosby Stills Nash & Young - Just a Song Before I Go

That should get ya started!
