Question about crumbled cake mycelium
    #4057135 - 04/15/05 01:36 AM (13 years, 2 months ago)

When you crumble PF cakes to make casings, does all of the mycelium grow back together? Is it supposed to stay in the incubator until it has grown back together or do you just initiate pinning based on when the mycelium begins to reach the casing layer?

It grows back if you provided the right environment

yes most of the mycelium will grow back together to form a network.

some people let it mend back together before they put a casing layer on it...it will mend back together in 24 hours or so.

then again some people just put a casing layer on top of the crumbled up cakes and let it colonize the casing layer...til the mycelium just starts to break the surface of the casing layer...then initiate fruiting.

it's all good.
