    #4055443 - 04/14/05 05:51 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

hey I was at the art studio today.... And i was giving the kiln the eye... I was thinking man , If i could get the top low enough on it, I could stick like 100 pf jars in there at a time..

has anyone ever heard of a kiln being used at all?

Hmm. I've never heard of a kiln being used. It seems it might be too dry in a kiln. Proly need some modifications for sure. But, could be a good idea if you can get the temps and RH optimal for incubation.

incubation? I was talking about cooking the pf tek jars in bulk in the kiln... where does rh come into play?

perhaps this could be answered by determining if pf jars can be baked , and at what tempature. I assume grains are out... but pf tek may work. Just imagine cooking 100 jars at once..

Holy... 100 jars that would take forever just to prep them.

Oh! Then no. Get a large pressure cooker then! I thought you were talking about for incubation of jars.

your talking dry heat with a Kiln.

compared to the steam bath or a pressure cooker.

I would think that the Kiln would dry out the jars while cooking...much like an oven.

And in all the years I have been here...I have never heard of someone trying this.

You could try a few jars at 250 degrees F. in the Kiln and see if it would work.

Up for an experiment?

Post your results.
