Water temp feeling
    #4055367 - 04/14/05 05:37 PM (12 years, 5 months ago)

I have a 300w aquarium heater. It has a themo-dial on the side. I was just wondering. How warm does 80 degree water feel to the touch? I have yet to recieve my thermometer from ebay and was wondering cuz my jars need some warmth.

my water is currently @ 83 degrees and feels warm to the touch (obviously warmer than ambient room temp of ~50-60 degrees) but isn't anywhere close to burning. "pleasantly warm" is how i would describe it, though i doubt that helps

warm to cold depending on your room temps. you should have learned heat transfer in high school.

Your better off incubating at room temps until your thermo comes in.

Use the sensitive skin below your wrists to feel your jars. They should NOT be warmer than you. Remember the core of the jar can be hotter than the outside. The main thing is not to shock your myc with extreme temp changes.

Don't stick your jars next to that 300w heater though unless you know what temp it is. (its powerful) Wait for the thermometer.

I have a electronic thermo coming but i put heat on them anyways. I put the heater on 80 in case it got a little warmer. The jars feel just about warm to the touch. they feel like the heat that comes from the exhaust of your computer. A little warm to the touch but nothing more.
