WBS Simmer and NO soak? need quick reply
    #4055211 - 04/14/05 04:50 PM (11 years, 10 months ago)

I have a 4 hour window to get some WBS ready, Drain it, and PC it. I didn't know i was going to get this chance today, so i didn't soak it last night. Can i just simmer it for a long while, then drain 45 min, and PC as normal? I heard this works, but wanted to make sure?
How long do i need to simmer? I was thinking about 1-2 hours.

Yep, I do this all the time when making up WBS for spawn. Soaking isn't totally necessary. Simmer for 30-45 minutes, or until grains appear they are going to explode.

30-45 is all i need? awesome. I've never simmered my WBS. Do i just bring it to a light boil, then turn it down so it's barely boiling? Then keep stirring it every now and then?

Yep, that's it. A medium simmer is best. Light simmer will do, but you really need the temps to expand the grains.

why dont you just jar it up at a 3:2 ratio and call it good?
