BRF & sesame seed
    #4052881 - 04/14/05 12:07 AM (18 years, 10 months ago)

I am looking at using BRF cakes on my upcoming grow and was wondering if I could use sesame seeds to add some bulk and extra amino acids to the mix.

Also, if it's a good idea what quantity should I use per jar?

Thanks.

Borg.

I played around with whole sesame seeds for use as spawn or possibly as a substrate for mexicana-a sclerotia production. (the link to that thread w/ pictures: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...818a8e43459672) It was very difficult to get moisture content right. The jars had very light growth in comparison to the other grains I used. Also all the sesame jars eventually succumbed to wet spot bacteria. So overall I was not particularly impressed with sesame seeds. That's not to say that it might not be a beneficial addition to a PF cake.

I have had a bit of success using soaked/simmered/drained wbs as a way to bulk up my brf mix. When I do it, I use 2parts verm/2 part wbs/1 part brf/1part water. I usually only do it when I am doing wbs and cakes at same time and I have a little wbs left over. It grows well tho and definitley stretches your materials to fill more jars.
