It probably would not work...you need to start the mycelium on something first and fully colonize it so it will resist contams, then mix it in with bulk. Liquid culture will be slow, if it works at all, and leave you more open to contams then spawn. You may get it to work but chances are so small, it wouldnt be worth my time or spores. I'd just get the moeny/time together and make 5 cakes at a friends house, just got to mix it up and boil it up...shoot up them and then use them as spawn.

Hell you could even use moist sterilized (nuker would probably work but I'd PC it if you have one) cardboard in a jar. Spores will germ on it and it can be used as spawn. I havnt done this myself, but I've been told it works great and resists contams better then agar. Theres a tek in the FAQ about it. Many many things you could use as spawn besides sugar water that would work better. Myc will colonize just about anything.

first of all dont microwave the cardboard. Second its used for woodlovers. You sprinkle spawn on it and the mycelium grows on the cardboard and then you layer your woodlover bed with it and put wood chips on top of it.

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

Actually. Cardboard works pretty damn good for spawning. And for petri work too.

Use the microwave until you get frustrated. After that you can either quit or buy a pressure cooker. It's all about water. Your microwave, or oven, or blow torch will boil it out. Every drop stays in with a PC.
