At the stem

I recently saw a picture of a mushroom with what appears to be a fine, white, grasslike growth around the base of its stem.
Does anyone know what this might be?

some say the end is near some say we'll see armagedon soon..certainly hope we will..i sure could use a vacation from this stupid shit.
