SWAMP COOLER PADS
This type cooler pad is available at WallMart, Kmart, Home-Depot, Lowes & other simular stores. Just ask where the "SWAMP COOLER PADS" are.
It is a blue thick bonded fiber, coated with a foam evaporative media specificaly designed to wick moisture & dispense it into the air. Pads range in size from 24X36 inch & up. Some places carry it in rolls. You can even wash a dirty pad out in warm soapy water.
A pad cost about the same as a small bag of perlite ($5).

Very nice find there Agar. It seems you keep up on this hobby just as much as you did at Nan's Nook. Very cool!

I bet those would work great for the guys that don't want to invest a ton of money. Don't you think they would house contams though? Seems similar to a sponge and they always say how bad it is when you use one sponge to wipe your counter tops all the time because of all the bacteria that grows inside.

It's not rocket science. It's a definate alternative for sure. The same basic results, minus the mess! Damn good alternative.

Sponges are easily sterilized in the microwave maybe these too! Definitely sounds like a much better alternative, nice find agar!

LOL, "success story"..............
I'm not "swearing" by this stuff, but it sure - as water is wet - looks good. I noticed it a week back. I eyeballed it & believe it would make a good alternate to perlite. About the same cost, easy to handle & no mess.
This is the first time I am aware of that anybody has suggested it. So, there are no stories - one way or the other about it, until someone gives it a whirl. I don't do cakes or TITS at all, so it is of no use to me.
I was just making a suggestion based on its positive attributes.

In the WalMart I saw it in, it was by the big square room size fans, swamp coolers & air conditioners.

Hmmm...that stuff looks cool for someone currently using passive humidifiers (ie damn dirty perlite). I'm not failure with the stuff nor i am going to bother trying to be but do you think that it would be effective in one layer or should the swamp-cooler grower use multiple layers on the bottom of their grow chamber? how thick is the stuff?

I second that. That cat could KILL with its cuteness. It rivaled the cuteness of my friend's kitten that i saw last night that is part leopard and part bob cat and something else wild, no shit. There are few pictures out there that can make me involuntarily smile and that was one of them. <--me fighting the smile. (no chance)
