Are his jars dead now?
    #4051867 - 04/13/05 08:53 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

A FOAF is doing PF jars and was doing a TiT. He had the fish tank heater set to 85-90. IT had been working since Sunday evening.

When he woke up this morning the thermometer read 100. He turned down his heater before he went to work. When he got back from work, the temp was a scorching 120.

One jar was showing signs of myc, the others aren't yet. Are his cakes ruined? 120 is a verrrry high temperature and he's worried the spores were killed.

Tell your friend to get rid of the heater ASAP! FYI mushroom spores can handle those temps (up to 122F.(50C.)) for short periods and survive. GL to you and your friend.
