I don't want to get sick from eating chemical residue from jiffy mix or from the soil, so how do i wash the mushrooms after I pick them?

Well, none of the stuff you put in your substrate/casing ought to make you sick per se. If you're really concerned about it, just wipe it down with a damp towel before drying.

the soil i am using tells you to clean your hands thoroughly after it coming into contact with your skin so i think that i might want to make sure theyre clean..

Would you clean an outdoor shroom growing on cow poop?
I have gotten some outdoor shrooms that smell pretty shitty, but I've never worried about contamination from the growing substrate. It seems likely that the shroom would absorb something from whatever it is growing on. I think your concerns would be the same thing for anything grown in "Jiffy Mix".
What if you were growing tomatoes?
I think all that you can do is clean all the substrate off the bottom of your shrooms and hope they aren't soaking up any nasty chemicals.

I think your concerns would be the same thing for anything grown in "Schultz potting soil".

You post about nutting in your substrate and you are concerned about potting soil ? Priorities man!! Seriouslly just wash them off in cool water and enjoy; if it was too toxic to eat after a minor rinsing they wouldnt be allowed to sell it as potting soil.

Pretentios no! Helpfull yes! You need to try to chill out CACA.
Im not attacking you I'm trying to be helpfull. You are taking things the wrong way and you end up looking bad. I know you got busted and had to move out to the shed or something like that. If you have power outlets in the shed use them for an air pump if you dont use an extension cord if you can. Put an aquarim air pump in a rubbermaid container w/a hole cut out and a filter on the hole (clean air). run this through a bubbler (search for posts from Jebus 2000 for details) and into your grow ,chamber cut hole for the air line near the top and cut a few holes near the bottom to let bad air out (tape filters over these). This should keep things pretty much fanned and misted w/out you having to run to the shed all the time. If you still have any questions use the shroomery search feature. Bye the way dark fly has posted usefull stuff to some of my questions and probably wont touch yours now. Pissing people off is very counterproductive!

Well, if nothing else, might I suggest looking for an alternative casing material that isn't quite so toxic? I use an organic potting mix myself.
