Is it time to case???
    #4050288 - 04/13/05 02:37 PM (11 years, 7 months ago)

This is an experiment I posted about a few days ago, you can see the thread here: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/4012037#Post4012037

Now this is a follow up of this experiment.
Four days after I had made this trays, I could already see some signs of mycelium coming out, so I decided to add a little more poo to those spots where it was starting to show.
Now it's been 4 more days after I added the poo and it just went crazy. The myc is all over the place and I don't really know what should I do with it... First take a look at them:

This is the tray I you saw on the first thread, it's now looking like this:

This a different tray. Since it's bigger, I used 2 petry dishes to inoc. This one is showing the best colonization. The mycelium is already touching the plastic foil used to cover, if you look hard you can notice that in the picture specialy on the upper left side of the tray.

Now I don't know what should I do with this...
Should I add more poo substrate, or should I add straight vermiculite and put it in my PmP?

PLS HELP!!!

Thanks

Junka

hi...bro

You shouldn't be opening it while the horse poo is colonizing...unless you are working in a sterile enviroment.
You will invite contams into your mix.

After the horse poo is fully colonized...put a casing layer on it.

Let the casing layer colonize til it just starts to break the surface.

Then put it in the fruiting chamber.

Some casing teks for you to check out.... Click here!~

your poo shall be 100% colonised before you case it.
check out, as road said, to be working with it in the most sterile environment you can
as contams sure love the pasteurized substrate.
i, personally, would wait a day or two then case if it has been 100%.

Ok, I guess I should wait a little longer before I case it then...
I think I might have to do one of them trays before the others, because it's showing a lot more growth...

Wait until it is all colonized, then add a casing mixture cover, incubate until rhizo crops out in an even spread, then expose to light, fresh air exchange & 85% rh range.
