Does simmering WBS smell?

I have some WBS jars going right now, but i didn't simmer them before PC'ing. I was going to do some more WBS this weekend, and i think im going to soak and simmer this batch. I was just wondering if simmering the WBS gave off a smell? I would only be simmering for like 10-15 min., so if i use the exhaust fan above my stove will it keep the smell from permeating the house?

Soaking / simmering WBS has no particular, or offensive smell (unless you let it ferment while soaking).

well it smells like cooking grains smells :wink:

but basically its a very 'light' smell.

It's not the simmering smell you have to worry about it's PC'ing for 90 minutes that stinks the whole place up.

yeah i know the pC'ing stinks everything up. Usually if i just put on the exhaust fan during PC'ing, then let the PC cool down outside then it won't smell up the house as bad.

Soaking and PCing smells worse then simmering..
