You don't P.C. Manure for cub because there is some beneficial crap in there and just get water temps around 170 but then For pan cyan una pcs it. Why? I was thinking of just casing some Rye berries and WBS that is colonized good idea or should I spawn to store bought composted manure? Also i have been searching everywhere but is there a way to use manure without straw? I got straw but deadly allergic to it and cutting it up is a bitch. Maybe 75 verm and 25 manure or is straw needed.
Thanks in advance

You can sterilize manure for substrate. However, in doing so you create a target vector for contmination. As any sterile nutriant exposed to air... is a great target, without competitors. Much more so that pasturized h/poo.

selfquoting sucks but i gave a quite precise answer on someone else asking
the same some time ago so here we go:
Quote:

to be precise, sterilizing will kill everything there is in the poop,
every microorganism will go balla balla.

by pasteurizing, you do not go sterility apocalypse but still leave some
of the microorganism inside the straw or poop alive, which actually AID
you in getting your straw colonised by whatever you spawn it with before
any other mold fungus or whatever can take hold on it.

to sum it up, you can do both, sterilize and pasteurize, but without a flowhood
pasteurisation will be your way to go b/c of above mentioned reasons.

all clear now?

Describe to me what happens to the portion of the substrate that was not utilized by the target species after the colonization of the substrate by the target species. Do you think all species utilize the same amount of a given substrate, or are there variations in the usable fraction?

Do some species do something to the unusable fraction to limit exploitation? Do all species or strains of a species?

Do you colonize pasteurized substrates in the same environmnet that you colonize sterilized substrates? Does one favor the introduction of competitors more so then the other?

I personally don't think the whole beneficial organism theory is dynamic enough to accurately describe the situation.

Speed of colonization is a great thing, but it isn't the end all to limiting contamination.

Personally I favor sterilized substrates with Copelandias in the environmnet I work in.
