I'm going to sand down a rust spot on my car and paint over it.  I want to do it myself. :syringe: :mushroom2:

Definately. Remember that it's bigger than it looks. Sand it ALL off.

Make sure you find about 3/4 inch of clean steel on all sides of the
cancer, and paint it well when you're done.

edit: If you can use an orbital sander, do so. Belt sanders suck for
cars, and hand sanding is lots of hard work.

Rust must be dealt with aggressively. If you skimp, you'll be sorry.

yea but 3/4 is alot. i spose it depends on the size of the spot too. if he has the time/skill to get it down that much and make it not noticeable then he should, but if its just a quick driveway job 3/4 is too much IMO
