Discovery - Black Sky, The Race for Space
    #4041281 - 04/11/05 03:47 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

The remarkable story of Burt Rutan and  SpaceShipOne. Only three of the most powerful governments in the world have achieved what they set out to do from a hangar in the Mojave desert: to put a man in space.

Just saw it, and it's a really good documentary

Also if all goes  well  you can take a flight in 2007, if you have $190,000

Yeah, I saw that a few months ago. Very impressive! It's not close to what the US, Russia and China have achieved, but very interesting nevertheless.

I would love to be part of such a small team, designing a spaceship. I think I have to study some more.

Here is another great aerospace documentary( http://www.mvgroup.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=4028 <- torrent link, you have to register, but it's worth it) :

Nova - Battle of the X-Planes

Description:

Inside the high-tech, high-stakes competition to create America's newest fighter plane. NOVA goes behind the doors of the world's two largest aerospace companies to record classified meetings, climbs into cockpits to fly the most revolutionary planes, and examines the high-stakes battle waged between Boeing and Lockheed Martin to build the most capable and versatile fighter ever created--the Joint Strike Fighter. You're on the front line as the two aerospace giants fight for a contract that will make aviation history and help protect America, and that could provide the winner total domination of the U.S. defense fighter industry. Marking the first time filmmakers have been allowed inside a major weapons competition, NOVA enters Boeing's Phantom Works and Lockheed's legendary Skunk Works, and travels to the flight test centers at Edwards Air Force Base and Patuxnet Naval Air Station to document key moments of the competition. Join military brass, aviation engineers, and test pilots as they race to create a single aircraft that meets three criteria--that the winning plane be stealthy, affordable, and adaptable to the widely varying needs of the Air Force, Navy, and Marines. Filmed over four years, Battle of the X-Planes reveals the breakthrough designs, heartbreaking setbacks, adrenaline-fueled test flights, and one final nail-biting decision--the winner of the most lucrative contract in military history-the Joint Strike Fighter.

Yeah it's a long way from orbital flight but it's finally a step in the right direction. NASA hasn't ever done anything to open up space for people in the private sector.
Thanks for the link, downloading now..

actually white man came from mars. when a white person is put into sensory deprivation tanks for long peroids of time, their body cycles at 24 hours and 37 minutes. Not the rotation of Earth, but that of mars. African's have the right cycle time.

could be true.

The earth's rotation is very slowly slowing down. Maybe humans just have an old natural cycle.
Are you sure a white man's body cycle is different than that of other colored people?

well, mars has evidence that cataclysmic events like the glaciers scared the surfaced of the planet. Well, in order for this to happen, it would have to be in a different orbit than it is now. some believe that the earth is now in the orbit of what was once mars'.

Please answer my question:
"Are you sure a white man's body cycle is different than that of other colored people?"
Do you have a source?

It isn't necessary that Mars had to be in a different orbit to have a warmer climate and glaciers etc. When Mars was formed it still had a very hot liquid core and a lot of volcanic/hydrothermal activity. This warmed the planet and kept water liquid untill the planet slowly cooled.

 Google saves the day yet again:

http://ask.yahoo.com/ask/19991209.html

Go back through all the Ibids until you find a source given. That is the source for the following Ibids.
