Suggestions?

All of my jars are 99% colonized and they have been like that about a week now so I am trying to initiate pinning by dropping the temperature. I am doing this by leaving some reusable ice packs in my container, which is lowering the temp a little.
What happens to the mycelium if pinning never starts? And is this a common thing? I would like to leave the cakes in the jars until pinning starts but how long does this usually take? The mycelium looks good and healthy. Suggestions are appreciated

Why in heck are you trying to get them to pin in the jars?
Get them the hell out, air exchange is a key factor to initiate pinning.

i remove the tape from the inoculation holes at about 50% colonization and then take them off the heating pad for a 10 degree drop in temperature and flip hem upside down for better co2 drainage. and i do get some pins in the jars.(that's why i have switched to rye grain)

Well they have been getting light every time I check them. A number of guides say to wait until the cakes pin in the jars, then birth. I am thinking they need air too, but I was just following the guides. I think I will birth half and see what happen.

FREEEEEEEEEEEEEE THEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Get them the hell out of those jars!
Pinning in a jar is not the way to go.
Get them in a PmP or martha right now!
Dunk and roll and grow!

Can I just tell you what will happen so you birth them all? The cakes that you birth, since they're getting ALL THREE pinning triggers (light, air exchange, 10 degree temp drop), will pin and fruit much quicker then the ones you dont. First flush yeilds will also increase with the pinset.

Some people let them pin and grow in jars, the invitro tek. Some strains are not suited to invitro and will not pin while in the jars.

OK you guys convinced me. I will birth tonight. It's just that the last time I birthed my cakes I only got one shroom. One! They were all perfectly healthy cakes and everything. I don't know what went wrong so I figured if I got them to pin in the jars this time it would be a sure thing. It's really frustrating beacause the first three times I ever grew everything went perfectly. Nice flushes and all.
