the short path to becoming illegal.
    #4039515 - 04/11/05 12:08 AM (18 years, 11 months ago)

mods if this is inappropriate please delete.

i would like to share some of my concern about teh plant kratom. i am very worried it is on the fast track to becoming illegal. many sites taht sell it also display dosage info and how to use it. particularly **kratom. this i find very troublesome, i think it our duty to ask this self proclaimed advocate for kratom to remove such info as it raises alot more attention then is needed.

I woudl like to hear you ideas adn thought s on this topic. it is our responsibility as a community to keep our plant alias close, and legal.

thanks and peace

Yup. We all see it coming man. It has recreational value. Therefore it will be prohibitted. Cant have people enjoying themselves. LOL.

And Australia seems so much worse than the US when it comes to prohibitting things. Crazy.

I seriously thought Sally D would be illegal by now..... Kratom is amazing..I am glad I have a large supply of it because it nearly saved my life by getting me through withdrawal and keeping me from using illegal drugs. I think they need to look at the posibilities of this herb to heal people rather than simply look at it as a drug. We, as the entheogenic community and Pioneers, should be researching the LEGIT uses of these botanicals..I know that using it for meditation, divination, exploration, etc. is legit to us, but its likely not to those who control us..

If we could find the medicinal value in these botanicals, and give them reason to not schedule it, but embrace it.. we can spread the truth, knowledge, love and power of these teacher plants..

Its not about abuse, nor is it about escapism.. Its about truth and enlightenment.. They don't seem to have it, so they are trying to take it from us. So, lets share our light with them so they too can see the truth.

^ Great idea w/ Kratom as a recovering agent.

I'm sure it would work, as methadone is pretty gross, Kratom extract would be a very good alternative.

I think it is a legitimate concern.

It has all the ingredients for illegality: It is a 'high' unlike salvia, it is very euphoric and pleasant, almost no side-effects, and above all it is addictive.

Some online stores are even selling the purified alkaloids. If that gets popular shit will certainly hit the fan soon. And i fear it may in fact be getting popular:
Quote:

95% kratom alkaloid extract

Due to the overwhelming response to this product All orders will take aleast 2 weeks to deliver.

(from one of these stores' catalog)

I'm a bit surprised it hasn't gotten more attention from the authorities already. It's not even one of DEA's "drugs of concern" yet. It will come to an end though, that's for sure.

Re: Claiming legitimate medical use value: Unfortunately that's no doubt the fastest route to criminalization given how these things work.  :frown:

We need to come up with a high strike tech for taking cuttings for this one right now. It can be done.

It's the only way.

aneglekya: although kratom could be used for medicine. i imagine that the gov would want to control it. for money or whatever else. we can use teh example of iboga, which does work but is illegal. the only way to keep things legal the way our gov works is to keep it on teh underground. im affraid one of these days a person under teh age of 18 is going to be puking his/her guts out and all spaced out because theyy took to much, tehn say dotn worry mom or dad its completely legal.

so what do you guys think should we approach said vendors and ask tehm to change?

i can see if gather information abotu teh substance and usage. (still kinda hairy) but just nto directly on a vendors website. even experience evidence would not prove much to the authorities though,if history did teach us anything

I Agree with you about it being on the vendors end maybe there is someway the community can work together, with the vendors, to keep it underground (which I too agree its the best way to keep it legal) as with the rest of our teacher plants.. Infact, I have been working on an organization for about a year now that will actually do this.. Ive spoken with several different vendors who are highly interested and its a great deal as it puts a lot of the power in YOUR hands, the community, while preserving the sanctity and legality of our allies and still turning a good profit for the vendors... If you are a vendor and are interested in more info please PM me.

Yep. I figure someone knows the secret as there are many suppliers selling plants and i doubt all of them are propagated through tissue culture.

Drgonz, if you are in the US there are loads of vendors who sell these plants. www.greenstranger.com , IAmShaman and more i can't remember right now. If you're in europe, www.entheology.net . If you're somewhere else i can't help.

Kind of off topic, but Aneglakya I think it would be very benificial to the community if you'd elaborate on your use of Kratom to help in the addiction recovery process. Probably be better to do it in a new thread, but I can't think of a better topic for a thread than one helpful with such a major problem in the community.

Why not start with vendors that are shroomery sponsors? Shroomery could have a saying at least on some vendors it chooses to be sponsored by,or deny the sponshorship. Shroomery SHOULD have an ideology ,right?

Check your PM's and you will see what i mean..
