A friend of mine has two fully colonized 1/2 pint jars and is planning on making a casing out of them with soaked cardboard and alder chips. SHould he keep the casing at room temperature and let it colonize before he drops the temp down to fruiting range or should he immediatly drop the temp down to fruiting temps. Also is 12 hours long enough to let the cardboard soak?

casing azures? I hope you mean outside because they are next to impossible to fruit indoors.

yeah 12 hours is enough. Room temp is fine for colonization.

i have no personal experience with azurescens (yet) and i hear theyre a real bitch togrow in general, let alone indoors. try if you want tho, ill never be teh one to stop someone from trying. keep it room temp till you see it breaking the casing layer. i would do some research on them tho, maybe additives to the substrate or how to keep correct pH in a seperate environment if you want azurescens.

I am going to grow them some day. I love cultivation, it is a great hobby and I would love to grow many different kinds. I am lucky enough to have an extra fridge to keep them cold enough to fruit.
