Hi
I am planning on growing Mushrooms sometime in the near future and i have a question about where i can securly place my Terrarium. I live in a room and dont have a closet (mine is in use) where i can put this securly. Naturally, people(friends) will be in my room now and again and i dont want to have the Mushrooms growing in plain site. I was thinking of putting it all in some sort of lockable fileing cabinet or something akin to a large gun closet. Any ideas on this one? Leaving the setup out in the open definitly isn't an option.
Thanks

Hi,
There are a few things you can use.
Alot of people like to use foot lockers. Depending on your style I knew people who would get a foot locker, cover it with a nice linen and but their stereo/books on it. If you're growing cakes you can easily do it, and you can put a small pad lock on it so that no one "accidentally" opens it.
Filing cabinets, old large luggage sitting around...basially anything you can put a lock on. I don't think its so much of "where can I hide it" its more of a question of, "What do I tell people when they see a locked container".
Depending on how "ghetto" your room is. I knew a guy who got about 20 milk crates. He used them to support the mattress that he slept on. The outer crates faced outward, so that he could use the crates as shelves. But the inner creates held small 5 gallon aquiriums. I thought it was neat when he showed me but personally... I think its alot of work to lift your matress everything you want to see your work:)
Hope that helps

I dont know anyone that has tried it, but the method by shroomwizard might be an option. You could keep the plastic trays under a bed and then just spray the dirt every once and awhile.

Or, even better, cut a hole in your floor panels and dig a subterranian city underneath your house. If things go well you should have plenty of space to grow, trip, hide bodies, and throw mushroom parties.
NOTE: I tried this but it didn't work, probably because I forgot support beams and that I live on the second story of a two story house.
