I noticed a blue-green fungus in the jars I was growing. I remember reading that that color isnt bad... but today I was rereading and saw that they are bad. The page also said that rubbing alcohol will kill the fungus. Is that true? or will it also kill off the mycelium... I think thats what its called.. the first stuff in the jar when you first start growing. Any ideas what I can do to kill the fungus without killing off the shrooms?
I wish I could think of something more clever to write as a signature.

theyre toast, man. if its only a little bit and near the top you can try to dig it out w/ a sterile spoon and spray it with 50/50 H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide- not alcohol) peroxide wont kill mycellium, only the ungerminated spores. so if theres no white stuff, dont use peroxide. if there is, try it. dont throw too much hope at green jars though, youll only be disappointed.
-------------------- Holy shit people; COMMON SENSE! we were all born with it where did it go?
maybe theres a tek out there to explain how to use it!

cakes can blue because of bruising. are your cakes fully colonized, or close to it? it can happen if a colonized cake gets bruised in the jar. but blue green is no good :( you may want to read up n the contam forum- they may be of more help. my advice would be wait and see, but then it may be too late. so go over there and take a gander.
