Ultra Fatasses
    #4036551 - 04/10/05 09:55 AM (11 years, 7 months ago)

My friend has been fruiting in a PMP and has noticed that his fruits are less mushrooms as much as they are massive hyphal knots. He believes the humidity is rather low (condensation, but not heavy dripping condensation) as expanded shale was used opposed to geolite.

He's considering casing now, as it seems it would be more supportive to cased cakes, but is wondering if perhaps there's another explanation to these strange growths. Having seen fatass pins, there is no relation to the two (these have nearly no caps, just fleshy warts). The species is malabar, and the spores weren't very old.

If anyone has any possible explanation as to what these fruits are, or if casing would indeed help, I'm sure he'd be glad to find out.

fatasses themselves are caused by a lack of fresh air exchange / high co2 levels.

increase the air exchange, that should help with them.

besides that, you mave have a super mutatios subustrain or some contam
that rendered these gnarly mushroom honks u got.
try upping airechange.

btw, any pics?
peace ohm :mushroom2:

what is your friend using to humidify his pod :tongue2:?

I have heard that the malabar speciese usually does produce rather large sized fruits, so it seems as though this could just be a natural characteristic of the srain under less-than-optimal humidity levels.

casings are much more productive in a cake-to-yield ratio than are cakes.

Good Luck   :crazy2:

Hey ohm--would you second Agar's post about my Thai pins needing some more air exchange? http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/4037572/an/0/page/0
