WBS jars, hardly any shaking room
    #4035740 - 04/10/05 12:23 AM (13 years, 1 month ago)

So my buddy has some wbs jars that he filled up too far, didn't know it would expand so much in the pc. They are colonizing but not real fast and they can hardly be shook cuz there is only about a half inch headroom in there. Do you think it will all work out or just stall permanently? It's been almost a month and a few of them are about half done, some hardly started at all. I don't think opening them up to dump some out would be a very good idea either.

same thing happened with me. So far, 3 of 6 finished very quick.

The other 3 are moving at a slow but sure space. I think they will be fine, just gonna take a bit of extra time.

I did 6 more jars, only filling them half way. I saw first signs of myc growth today, and it was in numerous spots.. I am thinking they are going to be done in like 7-10 days total time.. WBS is wicked!

I think he's going to try cracked corn with LC inoculation in the meantime. The incubator will hold 54 quart jars and everything is already on hand so wtf, might as well go for it.

I'd stick with WBS over cracked corn if it were me..

A month and not half done? What temps are you incubating at? If they aren't even half done after a month then i would probably start some new ones.

Fill about 2/3 full and incubate at 80-83 and they should be done anywhere from 10 days to 3 weeks max.
