"Acid" vs. "LSD"
    #4035723 - 04/10/05 12:15 AM (11 years, 11 months ago)

Who else doesn't like the word acid used to describe LSD? I've been trying
to figure out how I feel about it, and all I can come up with is that the
name for such an amazing thing should be unique, and never used to
describe anything mundane.

Plus, I just don't like the sound while tripping.

Your thoughts?

yah, I hear where you're coming from

having never had LSD (yet), I dont know if I can really comment, but I defintely like LSD better than acid

I feel the same way about calling mushrooms shrooms. For some reason the word "shrooms" rubs me the wrong way... feels like too casual a word for something I tend to feel is special.

I also hate the word acid more because of the connotation between it and "acid" myths like the name implies something evil that fry's your brain. Its just been overused too i hate it in movies too "wanna TRY some ACID" so annoying except for fear and lothing they are exempt :yesnod:

Yep, I never liked the name either....doesnt go good with the whole "brain bleeding" propaganda. Ive heard Acid is actually a base strangley eneough but that may me un-true. "butterfly-sugar" is a name my girl-friend used I always kinda liked.

typically when I have acid things such as this are the last thing on my mind. but it's certainly not a pretty way to refer to one of the most beautifull substances known to man. I like "happy bliss enlightenment tabs" myself, but it's just not catchy i guess.

Im not saying for me but alot of people dont open there minds to psychadleics because of things such as "this". I dont refer Acid as Acid anyways. the PH balance of Orange Juice is more acidic then LSD>

i thought acid was extremely dangerous when i first heard about it because of the name, actually. It really isn't such a great name for what it really is...

If people choose to avoid lsd because of the title "acid" it's probably not the time for said people to dose anyway. I know acid is an invaluable tool for opening ones mind, but you really need to have a somewhat open mind to begin with if you hope to gain positive results from what you experience on acid. So if someone is cutting themself off from it because of the title it may just be a good thing.

Butterfly-sugar is an awsome name for it, btw.

Griping over a name? Most people around here call it acid, Uncle Sid or sometimes microdots.

Im not saying so much only for the people who are involved in psychaldilcs, but more-so the exterior influences. Parents and Law Enforcement are apart of this world and they tend to prosecute somebody who does acid just as much as a junkie. I know my Guidance teacher emphasized on the term "acid" and I know atleast at the time, many kids totally turned off the drug just from the sheer name. To this day, many college kids will step up to mushrooms from pot but will dive into Ketamine, Ghb, Coke or sometimes even meth before giving acid a wurl. I dont know if its from the name or wat..

I love the name acid. It somehow sums up that whirling psychedelic feeling it gives to everything, the way a screaming guitar solo sounds while you're turned on...that's acid.

i have done acid twice in my life and both times I was scared for my life........ but hearing you ALL talk about makes me wonder if it was acid that I took I was only 14 and 15 years old when i did it SO it has been many years for ....... I was wondering how can i know if it was acid that i did. I know the first time I was chased by the kool laid man for a few hours and when i was coming down i felt like a rat trying to get a piece of cheese.... and i was paranoid... second time i sat in the corner of a room for like 4 hours smashed up in a ball me legs to my chest because I thought if i moved I would have bee eaten by this big giant dog..... and the come down was the same as the first come down. rough...... the first time i didn't know i was taking acid my friends tricked me the second time I knew ... but both time scared the shit out of me.... is that normal??? was its acid that I took or what was it????

Whaaa?

Set and setting are the most important things here, sounds like you had nothing going for you in those situations. I never find coming down off acid very rough, usually it's not bad on me even with the stuff doesn't feel very clean.
