Suggestions on Books
    #4035369 - 04/09/05 09:46 PM (11 years, 7 months ago)

Im not looking for the normal novel, instead something mind altering. I work night shift and need something other than sleep (BOO HOO) to occupy my time. So give some crazed ass suggestions please and thank you!

Or read Hunter S. Thompsons (  ) Fear and Lothing in Las Vegas. I read it in one sitting and it was quite insane. I would never want to trip like that.

Any William S. Burroughs would certainly meet your criteria for mind-alteringness. I've found his work a little too "out-there." There is no author more people profess to enjoy but really don't.

The Doors of Perception - Aldous Huxley: This is a 30-page essay on the effects of mescaline. You can download it off the web (just search for it). The Doors took their name from this work.

Any Hunter S. Thompson will do.

Somebody mentioned Island by Huxley. That's one that's close to the top of my "to read" list.

I was going to suggest Robert Anton Wilson, but someone else already mentioned it.

Alternatively Zen and the Brain by James H. Austin will take you a long time to get through...

Isn't Stranger in a Strange land by Robert Heinlein?
