as in- i never get any. try and try again i just cannot seem to get a 1/2 pint or quart jar to colonize. weeks on end and slow growth usually turns green or red if its a MMGG/BRF cake and never seen any growth with finch seed. my cakes tend to dry out after that long, especially if i use filter disks. my question is; can someone recommend a decent heating tek to keep my jars at a good temp? i have been placing them in an aquarium in water up to 1/4 inch from the bottom of the lid and a submirsable water heater at 84deg F. this absolutely kills me, as all i hear is that the MMGG tek is the best and virtually anyone can get it to work. i consider myself a reasonably intelligent person and cannot for the life of me get any of my 30 or so jar attempts to get to the birthing stage after about 2 1/2 mos of trying. all so far have been p. cubensis from sporeworks. all my outside growing attempts have failed also, thats because of dry weather and cold temps here in NY, but the repetitious failed jars leave me extraordinarily frustrated to say the least; and $70 in the hole for the trips that i should have grown but had to buy :). any good warming teks out there? anyone successfully grown some near central NY i would be more than glad to meet anyone in my area that could coach me thru this or show me or something PLEASE PM me. back to work i go....

Damn.. that sounds disastrous... Hm.. Do you have a closet with no drift? Keep them in there in the dark and in that water. Try putting the water tray inside a tub- Sterlite, Rubbermaid. Maybe you need to wait longer for the jars to cool down after sterilizing. If you put the spores in there when its too hot, they will die. You have to wait hours for them to cool down. Hours. Well, my pint jars took hours.
.. what was i saying..?

well the first batch i only waited like 3 hours or so but i cooled them in cool water for that long also. the last 20 or so i would leave overnight and also the spores in teh syringe overnight (i made the syringes from a print and know i should let them soak up in there 12 hrs).
puscle- are you saying the shroomery.org/~sporeworks is not a reputable vendor? i really dont think the problem lies in the spores though, because if i innoculate any substrate bed in outdoor climate i get great looking rhizomprphic mycellum for a week or so, till it dies (like i said, my theory being too dry and cold in NY). could you point me toward your recommended vendor puscle? im pretty able (i hope [but obviously i guess im not]) and have ordered a few syringes which i use, may you possibly suggest a sporeprint from the FSR or maybe mailing/selling me a print of your own; if you have any fresh cubies? i would also be interested in growing most other mushies also (EQ's or GT's) im not too partial to B+'s, but if thats all i could get 2 work id do it. another question, any other species/starin you recommend if my pathetic sould cannot fruit cubes?
