Does anybody know a site that might list mycological groups in my area or labs or anything of the such?

No harm can come from questioning. "Best" case scenerio: You prove it right without relying on the fact that it is widely accepted. Argument strengthened. "Worst" case scenerio: You realize you might have been wrong. The new answer might or might not be what you want to hear, but it beats defending yourself with bullshit.

Try local universities, otherwise I have no idea.

if you want to learn stuff.. just start reading.. it'd be nice to have a local mycologist but unless you are near a city it'll be rather hard to find i think... there are huge communities of people online though.. like this one for example.. and mushworld.com.. that may be another place to look, good luck

not always, another way to start is to look for local mushroom hunters clubs.

google.com is your friend, I've found that there are a couple near me a few years ago.

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

eh, stay away from universities if you plan on inquiring about anything illegal. Those places are full of tool narc's who would put you away for no particular reason. The university mentality is definitely a dangerous one.
