Panaeolus cyanescens - Australian.
Very tall mushrooms that often topple over from their own weight at maturity. Fast pinner producing mushrooms 2 days earlier than Jamaican or Thailand strains. Highly affected by elevated CO2 levels which reduces caps size and encourages even taller thinner specimens. Pins are tan fading to pale dun to greyish white. Widely spaced gills that extend below the cap margin as the caps mature to plane. Flesh blues intensely when cut or bruised.
Substrate is sterilized horse manure with a peat/calcium carbonate casing.

Australian (left) Jamaican (right) Side view of mature mushroom caps showing large widely spaced gills of the Australian that hang well below the cap edge compared to the Jamaican.

One question; You used sterilized manure? Is this better than say spawning grains to past. manure then casing? Just thought I'd ask.

I wouldn't say its better. I would use whatever works for you. I tend to work very small scale. I imagine that spawning pasturized manure with grain spawn is more scaleable to large grows than trying to sterilize large amounts of manure. I like the sealed sterile bags mostly because I can just leave them on the shelf until I am ready to case and fruit.
On a side note, I am going through my 30 plus Panaeolus collection until I find that elusive 2 spored species. So expect many similar posts in the future.

Good luck with the 2-spored Copelandia. It will be a pleasure to watch the effort.
Got a master list of locations of origin of your 30 varieties?
Any not from Florida, hawaii, jamaica, tailand, cambodia, mexico, vietnam, australia?

I have one labeled Burma, but its probably not much different than Thailand. I'll think about putting a list up. Many are of unknown origin, possibly mislabeled or dead from age. I streaked 6 today. I'll post viability when they show growth.

Thanks.
Might need to hydrate old Copelandia spores. I went 2 for 13 without hydration on some old prints going back 1-4 years. Going to try to soak some spores in some sterile water for a few days, and see if that improves germination on the ones that did not germinate after three weeks on agar.
Good luck.

All plates showing germination in 2-4 days. I'll put up the names and descriptions in a few days. Currently they are just codes and I need to find my master list to provide all the details. I know one is from 1998 spores and 2 are Hawaiian, possibly cambos with very dark colored caps. So dry pan spores can be good for at least 6 years under refrigeration.
I streaked a 7th plate that is very old, poorly stored and unknown from Florida. Its probably not an active species although the collector thought it might have stained blue (yeah right). He described it as very large with a 12 inch stem, so we shall see. So far at least one spore has germinated on the plate (more than I expected).
I'll start a new thread in a few days and attempt to fruit all six confirmed active species simultaneously and I'll do the unknown in a separate thread if the culture looks good.

Mine were stored in a dresser, not a refridge. Guess I better rethink that in the future.
Thanks again.
