Foodsaver Home Vaccuum packaging system

Has anyone used the Foodsaver Signature Series V840 to seal mycobags from mycobag.com / mycofactory.com? I'm just wondering if it gets hot enough to seal their mycobags.

You'll need an impulse sealer for that.

Been there, done that.........

Every Food Saver type vaccum & seal I have ever seen (many-many) all have a heat seal wire that is as thin as fine thread (1/75th inch, or smaller). As such, the tiny thin seal it creates is not wide, very secure & certainly NOT DURABLE.

Quality IMPULSE SEALERS have a heat seal wire at least 1/16 inch wide, or wider. The seal they create is VERY DURABLE.

I've used a food saver and a black and decker sealer, make 2 or 3 seals to make sure its sealed right,

I love my foodsaver for vacuum packing things (especially with the jar attachment), but the sealing wire is very thin. I've tried to double and triple seal but sometimes air still gets in over time.

I finally bought a 12" impulse sealer from ebay for like $30 and wish I'd have gotten it earlier.

I still use my foodsaver and seal initially with it cuz it's part of the vacuuming process, but I finish up with a 3mm seal from my impulse sealer and haven't had any bags unseal since I started using it.

Plus it's nice to have cuz you can seal many things with it. It's way more flexible than the sealer on a foodsaver.
