Dunking in jars and dunking rolled cakes.
    #4032974 - 04/09/05 02:13 AM (12 years, 5 months ago)

Well, in three days I'm going to have quite a few cakes that are going into the fridge overnight. I plan on removing the top layer of verm and dunking them in their jars. I also plan on rolling and DEC'ing them. My question was concerning future dunks (between flushes) with cakes that have been rolled and DEC'd. Does the dunking cause the verm to come off of the outside of the cake? If so, I imagine I would want to re roll them.

Some will come off but most of it sticks cuz the myc grows into it.

After your first flush and next dunk you don't have a lot of verm exposed you may want to roll again but most of the time you just need to do it once.

I like to get like 3-4 flushes out of one pf cake, simply b/c it holds water so well, its probably not worth it though(old cakes have higher contam rates than newer ones)....
